Great pattern, but the seemingly wonderful yarn is a disaster once the sweater is done. Dont know the word in English for it, but im Swedish: Tröjan blev snart helt noppig på ett närmast tuffsigt sätt - inte något som går att åtgärda med en avnoppningsmaskin eller annat. I bought the yarn for a fairly good price, and now I see why. So my advice to fellow knitters is: Use a different yarn for this pattern! All the hours I put down and to not want to use it in public. That sucks.

I'm worried that 4 x 50gm balls will not be enough to finish this pattern. I'm knitting the medium size.
21.08.2017 - 06:25DROPS Design answered:
Hi Caroline, As long as your knitting tension is correct, the amounts of yarn given in the pattern will be enough to finish the jumper. Happy knitting!

GARTER STITCH (worked in the round): 1 ridge = 2 rounds. Knit 1 round and purl 1 round. GARTER STITCH (back and forth): 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. INCREASE TIP: Increase as follows mid under sleeve - beg 1 stitch before marker: Make 1 yarn-over, knit 2 (marker is between these 2 stitches), 1 yarn-over. On next round knit yarn-over twisted to avoid holes. ---------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER: Worked in the round on circular needle up to the armholes, then work front and back piece back and forth separately. BODY: Cast on 204-216-234-252-270-282 stitches on circular needle size 4 mm with Brushed Alpaca Silk. Knit 1 round, then work as follows: * 3 stitches in stocking stitch, 3 stitches in GARTER STITCH - see explanation above *, repeat from *-* the entire round. Work rib like this for 8 cm. Switch to circular needle size 5 mm, work 1 round in stocking stitch while decreasing 20-20-22-24-22-26 stitches evenly = 184-196-212-228-248-256 stitches. Continue in stocking stitch. When piece measures 66-68-70-72-74-76 cm, work only over the first 92-98-106-114-124-128 stitches on needle, slip the last 92-98-106-114-124-128 stitches on a stitch holder. FRONT PIECE: = 92-98-106-114-124-128 stitches. Continue in stocking stitch back and forth. When piece measures 77-80-83-86-88-90 cm, slip the middle 22-22-24-24-26-26 stitches on a stitch holder for neck. Now finish each shoulder separately. Cast off for neck on every row from neck as follows: Cast off 2 stitches 1 time and 1 stitch 2 times = 31-34-37-41-45-47 stitches remain for shoulder. Work until piece measures 82-85-88-91-94-97 cm, work 1 ridge in GARTER STITCH - see explanation above, then cast off. Work the other shoulder the same way. BACK PIECE: = 92-98-106-114-124-128 stitches. Continue in stocking stitch back and forth. When piece measures 81-84-87-90-93-96 cm, cast off the middle 28-28-30-30-32-32 stitches for neck and finish each shoulder separately. Then decrease 1 stitch on next row from neck =31-34-37-41-45-47 stitches for shoulder. Work until piece measures 82-85-88-91-94-97 cm, work 1 ridge, then cast off. Work the other shoulder the same way. SLEEVE: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Switch to circular needle when needed. Cast on 42-42-42-48-48-48 stitches on double pointed needles size 4 mm with Brushed Alpaca Silk. Knit 1 round, then work as follows: * 3 stitches in stocking stitch, 3 stitches in GARTER STITCH - see explanation above *, repeat from *-* the entire round. Work rib like this for 5 cm. Switch to double pointed needles size 5 mm, work 1 round in stocking stitch while decreasing 6-4-4-8-6-4 stitches evenly = 36-38-38-40-42-44 stitches. Insert 1 marker at beginning of round = mid under sleeve. Work in stocking stitch and increase 1 stitch on each side of marker - READ INCREASE TIP. Increase every 2½-2-2-1½-1½-1½ cm 11-12-13-14-15-15 times in total = 58-62-64-68-72-74 stitches. Cast off when piece measures 34-33-32-31-29-29 cm. NOTE! Shorter measurements in the larger sizes because of wider shoulders. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams. Sew in sleeves. NECK EDGE: Knit up approx. 85-100 stitches (including stitches on stitch holder) around the neck on a short circular needle size 4 mm and join to work in the round. Work 2 ridges, then cast off by knitting. |
