In this DROPS video we show how to knit 2 stitches together (aka K2tog).

This is probably the easiest way to decrease 1 stitch: knit 2 stitches together as one. In the video we first knit 2 stitches together in the front loops, the dec leans right.
Then we knit 2 stitches twisted together, i.e. we knit them together in the back loops and the dec leans to the left.

Dear Rachel, you can cast off as follows if it seems clearer: cast off 3 stitches from the beginning of the row, then work as before until 3 stitches remain before the next marker (= side), cast off the next 6 stitches (= 3 sts from the front and 3 sts from the back), work until 3 sts remain in the round and cast off the next 3 sts. Dear Mrs Tezcanli, in this pattern, you should have 164 sts in size M and 176 sts in size L, this means: cast off 6 sts (starting 3 sts before the end of the round), work the next 76-82 sts (the first of them is already on the needle), cast off the next 6 sts and knit the last 76-82 sts (the first of them is already on the needle). De instructie is bij zowel het begin als eind van de naald "2 (eerste/laatste) steken samenbreien door rechternaald voor in beide steken in te steken en samenbreien". In this DROPS video we show a pair of mittens before and after felting. To prevent the thumb from felting together, turn the mitten to WS (wrong side) and place a narrow silk ribbon along the thumb. Secure the ribbon with a safety pin – NB: insert the pin vertically towards the tip of the thumb so it is easy to remove after felting. Turn the mitten back to RS (right side) before felting. 1. Place the mittens in the washing machine with a wool detergent that does not contain enzymes or optical brighteners. 2. Wash at 40 °C / 104 °F, normal spin, no pre-wash. 3. Stretch and shape the mittens to the correct measurements while still wet. 4. If they turn out too small: soak in water until completely wet, then stretch back to the desired size. 5. Afterwards, the mittens can be washed as any other wool garment.
