Buon lavoro!

Thank you, however, if the pattern is INCORRECT, should it not be corrected? I'm certain I am NOT the only one with this problem, and the pattern IS NOT NEW. Would be nice! Not fun tapping into the INC/DEC numbers.
06.02.2015 - 00:09DROPS Design answered:
Dear Ima! There is no error in pattern. Head circumference differs from one person to other. To get good fit you should get correct head circumference and adjust hat to that, by making more decreases if needed.

JUST finished this beautiful hat, to find the band is 21.74 INCHES (per specs). My gauge is spot on. I realize it covers the whole hairline. Is there errata I was unable to find? I am heartbroken - this is a gift for my friend who is in chemotherapy, bald, cold and embarrassed.
04.02.2015 - 22:06DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Skein-Dinavian, if the band around head is too large/too tight, you can adapt to the circonference of the head with larger/tighter needles or with more inc/dec. Happy knitting!

When it says stop increasing when the work measures 15 cm, does this mean right across the knitting, or from the centre to the edge? Thank you
22.10.2014 - 21:27DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Gibbard, the 15 cm are measured from center to the edge (ie 30 cm accross). Happy knitting!

Hi Jane, hat is worked top down, you start with 8 sts, inc to 16, then to 24 and so on according to pattern.

This pattern begins: "Cast on 8 stitches on the larger needles..." 8 stitches? 80 stitches? Please explain. Thank you.

HAT: DROPS 2.5 mm [US 1] and 3 mm [US 2] double pointed needles, or sizes needed to obtain correct gauge. Gauge: 23 sts and 32 rows on larger needles in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"]. Hat: Cast on 8 sts on larger needles and distribute the sts evenly over 4 needles (knit with the 5th needle). Round 1: Knit all sts into the back of the st. Round 2: inc 1 st in each st. 16 sts. 3rd and all odd-numbered rounds: Knit. Round 4: inc 1 st in every other st. 24 sts. Round 6: K 1, inc 1 st in the next st, * inc 1 st in every 3rd st *. 32 sts. Round 8: inc 1 st in every 4th st = 40 sts. Round 10: K 3, inc 1 st in the next st, * inc 1 st in every 5th st * = 48 sts. Round 12: K 1, inc 1 st in the next st, * inc 1 in every 6th st * = 56 sts. Round 14: K 4, inc 1 st in the next st, * inc 1 st in every 7th st * = 64 sts. Round 16: K 1, inc 1 st in the next st, * inc 1 st in every 8th st * = 72 sts. Round 18: K 5, inc 1 st in the next st, * inc 1 st in every 9th st * = 80 sts. Round 20: K 1, inc 1 st in the next st, * inc 1 st in every 10th st * = 88 sts. Continue increasing in this fashion; begin every other increase row with K 1 and with K 6, K 7, K 8, (etc.). When the work measures 15 cm [5-⅞"], knit 10 rows over all sts without increasing. Decrease the reverse of the increased sts for 6 cm [2-⅜"]. Decrease evenly on the next row to 125 sts. Change to smaller double pointed needles and knit 3 cm [1.25"] in stockinette st, purl 1 row, knit 3 cm {1.25"] stockinette st, bind off loosely. Fold the edge over against the wrong side and sew. Make a little dense round tassel (4-5 cm [1-⅝" - 2»] in diameter) and sew it to the top. SCARF: Size: 22 x 100-120 cm [8-⅝" x 39-⅜" - 47.25"]. DROPS 4 mm [US 6] needles, or sizes needed to obtain correct gauge. Gauge: 21 sts and 21 rows in garter st = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"]. Scarf: Cast on 46 sts and knit in garter st for 100-120 cm [8-⅝" x 39-⅜" - 47.25"]. Bind off loosely. |
