De tweede rij maten komen ongeveer overeen met de maat van het kind in cm, dus maat 3/4 = 74 cm, maat 5/6 = 80 cm enzovoorts. Je kan ook kijken naar de maattekening onderaan het patroon en deze vergelijken met een bestaande trui die goed zit.

Het beste is om eerst een proeflapje te maken, zodat je kunt zien hoeveel steken er in 10 cm gaan. Op basis daarvan zou je het patroon om kunnen rekenen, omdat je dan weet hoeveel steken je op moet zetten per 10 cm.

Gauge: 9 sts x 14 rows on larger needles in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"]. Garter st, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows. Rib: * K 2, P 2 *, repeat from * - *. Pattern: See chart. The pattern is seen from the right side. Front: Cast on 46-46-50-54-54 sts on smaller needles. Knit rib keeping 1 st at each side in garter st throughout. When the piece measures 3 cm [1.25"] change to larger needles, P 1 row (right side row), increasing 2-4-2-2-4 sts evenly distributed = 48-50-52-56-58 sts. Establish pattern on the next row as follows (seen from the right side): P 5-6-6-8-8, Pattern 1 (8 sts), P 7-7-8-8-9, Pattern 1 (8 sts), P 7-7-8-8-9, Pattern 1 (8 sts), P 5-6-6-8-8. Continue in pattern as established, knitting cable sts in stockinette st and all other sts in reverse stockinette st. When the piece measures 40-44-47-52-54 cm [15.75" - 17.25" - 18.5" - 20.5" - 21.25"] K 2 tog across the 8 sts of cables on each shoulder. On the next row bind off the remaining 9-10-10-10-10 sts. Back: Cast on and knit the same as the front. Bind off for armhole as on front. When the piece measures 38-42-45-50-52 cm [14-⅞" - 16.5" - 17.75" - 19.75" - 20.5"], K 2 tog over 8 sts of center cable. On the next row bind off the center 12-12-14-14-16 sts for the neck = 13-14-14-14-14 sts remain on each shoulder. When the piece measures 40-44-47-52-54 cm [15.75" - 17.25" - 18.5" - 20.5" - 21.25"] K 2 tog across the 8 sts of cables on each shoulder. On the next row bind off the remaining 9-10-10-10-10 sts. Sleeve: Cast on 18-18-22-22-22 sts on smaller needles. Knit rib keeping 1 st at each edge in garter st. When the piece measures 12 cm [4.75"], change to larger needles and knit reverse stockinette st to finished measurements. At the same time after the rib inc 1 st at each side every 2.5-3-4-4-3.5 cm [1" - 1.25" - 1.5" - 1.5" - 1-⅜"] 6-7-6-7-8 times = 30-32-34-36-38 sts. When the piece measures 28-32-35-39-41 cm [11" - 12-⅝" - 14-⅛" - 15.25" - 16-⅛"] bind off 2 sts at each side every other row until the piece measures 32-36-40-45-48 cm [12-⅝" - 14-⅛" - 15.75" - 17.75" - 18-⅞"]. Bind off the remaining sts. Assembly: Sew right shoulder. Pick up approx. 34 to 46 sts incl. sts on st holder at center front (divisible by 4+10) around the neck on smaller needles. Continue to knit the center front 8 sts in cable pattern, knit the remaining sts in rib with P 2 each side of cable (seen from the right side). When the collar measures 4-4-5-5-6 cm [1.5" - 1.5" - 2" - 2" - 2-⅜"] K 2 tog across 8 sts of cable, on the next row bind off all sts. Sew left shoulder and up along neckband. Sew in sleeves. Sew sleeve and side seams. |
