Gauge: 9 sts x 14 rows on larger needles in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm.

Garter st, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows.

Rib: * K 2, P 2 *, repeat from * - *.

Pattern: See chart. The pattern is seen from the right side.

Front: Cast on 46-46-50-54-54 sts on smaller needles. Knit rib keeping 1 st at each side in garter st throughout. When the piece measures 3 cm change to larger needles, P 1 row (right side row), increasing 2-4-2-2-4 sts evenly distributed = 48-50-52-56-58 sts. Establish pattern on the next row as follows (seen from the right side): P 5-6-6-8-8, Pattern 1 (8 sts), P 7-7-8-8-9, Pattern 1 (8 sts), P 7-7-8-8-9, Pattern 1 (8 sts), P 5-6-6-8-8. Continue in pattern as established, knitting cable sts in stockinette st and all other sts in reverse stockinette st. When the piece measures 24-27-29-33-34 cm bind off at each side for armhole every other row: 2 sts 1 time and 1 st 1-1-1-3-3 times = 42-44-46-46-48 sts. When the piece measures 37-40-43-48-49 cm put the center 14 sts on a st holder for the neck. Then dec 1 st at each neck edge every other row 1-1-2-2-3 times = 13-14-14-14-14 sts remain on each shoulder. When the piece measures 40-44-47-52-54 cm K 2 tog across the 8 sts of cables on each shoulder. On the next row bind off the remaining 9-10-10-10-10 sts.

Back: Cast on and knit the same as the front. Bind off for armhole as on front. When the piece measures 38-42-45-50-52 cm, K 2 tog over 8 sts of center cable. On the next row bind off the center 12-12-14-14-16 sts for the neck = 13-14-14-14-14 sts remain on each shoulder. When the piece measures 40-44-47-52-54 cm K 2 tog across the 8 sts of cables on each shoulder. On the next row bind off the remaining 9-10-10-10-10 sts.

Sleeve: Cast on 18-18-22-22-22 sts on smaller needles. Knit rib keeping 1 st at each edge in garter st. When the piece measures 12 cm , change to larger needles and knit reverse stockinette st to finished measurements. At the same time after the rib inc 1 st at each side every 2.5-3-4-4-3.5 cm 6-7-6-7-8 times = 30-32-34-36-38 sts. When the piece measures 28-32-35-39-41 cm bind off 2 sts at each side every other row until the piece measures 32-36-40-45-48 cm. Bind off the remaining sts.

Assembly: Sew right shoulder. Pick up approx. 34 to 46 sts incl. sts on st holder at center front (divisible by 4+10) around the neck on smaller needles. Continue to knit the center front 8 sts in cable pattern, knit the remaining sts in rib with P 2 each side of cable (seen from the right side). When the collar measures 4-4-5-5-6 cm K 2 tog across 8 sts of cable, on the next row bind off all sts. Sew left shoulder and up along neckband. Sew in sleeves. Sew sleeve and side seams.
