Bon crochet!

Terms I do not understand, double crochets around the chain stitches, explain please. pattern is worked sideways? Thanks, love to crochet several crochet patterns
31.01.2024 - 23:14DROPS Design answered:
Dear Billie, this means you will insert the crochet hook in the 3-chain-space from previous row instead of in the chains themselves. Correct, shawl is worked sideways. Happy crocheting!

Hi team! Could you tell me exactly how much yarn is needed? I have about 40g drops air from a previous project, not sure if it’s sufficient for this one. Thanks!
23.10.2023 - 11:30DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Huang, it's a bit tricky here, you might need a whole ball Air, ie the whole 50 g. Happy crocheting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- CHAIN STITCH: If you work outermost on the hook the chain stitch will often be too tight; 1 chain stitch should be as long as 1 double crochet is wide. CROCHET INFORMATION: Each row begins with 3 chain stitches, which replace the first double crochet. At the end of the next row work around these 3 chain stitches. DECREASE TIP: Work 1 double crochet in the next double crochet but wait with the last yarn over and pull-through (2 loops on hook), work 1 treble crochet around the chain stitches from the previous row, wait with the last yarn over and pull-through (3 loops on hook). Make 1 yarn over and pull it through all 3 loops on the hook. 1 stitch decreased. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SHAWL - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked sideways. SHAWL: Use crochet hook size 5 MM = US H/8 and DROPS Air. ROW 1 (wrong side): Work 4 CHAIN STITCHES – read explanation above, 2 double crochets in the first chain stitch = 3 double crochets on the row. Turn. ROW 2 (right side): Work 3 chain stitches - read CROCHET INFORMATION, 1 double crochet in the next double crochet, work 2 double crochets around the 3 chain stitches from the previous row = 4 double crochets on the row. Turn. ROW 3 (wrong side): Work 3 chain stitches, 1 double crochet in each of the next 2 double crochets, 1 double crochet around the chain stitches from the previous row. No increased stitches on this row. Turn. ROW 4 (right side): Work 3 chain stitches, 1 double crochet in each of the next 2 double crochets, 2 double crochets around the chain stitches from the previous row = 5 double crochets on the row. Turn. ROW 5 (wrong side): Work 3 chain stitches, 1 double crochet in each of the 3 next double crochets, 1 double crochet around the chain stitches from the previous row. No increased stitches on this row. Turn. ROW 6 (right side): Work 3 chain stitches, 1 double crochet in each double crochet as far as the chain stitches from the previous row, 2 double crochets around these chain stitches. 1 double crochet increased. Turn. ROW 7 (wrong side): Work 3 chain stitches, 1 double crochet in each double crochet as far as the chain stitches from the previous row, 1 double crochet around these chain stitches. No increased stitches on this row. Turn. REMEMBER THE CROCHET GAUGE! Repeat rows 6 and 7 until there are 19 double crochets and the last row was worked from the wrong side. The piece measures approx. 13-14 cm = 5⅛"-5½" in width and 38 cm = 15" in height. Continue working without increasing as follows: ROW 8 (right side): Work 3 chain stitches, 1 double crochet in each double crochet as far as the chain stitches from the previous row, work 1 double crochet around these chain stitches. Turn. Repeat row 8 from both the right and wrong side a total of 4 times (approx. 3½ cm = 1¼") and the next row is from the right side. Decrease as follows: ROW 9 (right side): Work 3 chain stitches, 1 double crochet in each double crochet until there is 1 double crochet and 3 chain stitches left - read DECREASE TIP and decrease 1 stitch. Turn. ROW 10 (wrong side): Work 3 chain stitches, 1 double crochet in each double crochet as far as the chain stitches from the previous row, work 1 double crochet around these chain stitches. Turn. Repeat rows 9 and 10 until there are 3 double crochets on the row. The piece measures approx. 80 cm = 31½". Cut and fasten the strand. |
