Bon tricot!

Is there a correction for this pattern, as it looks like all the inside shaping cant take place within the 40cm length guideline?
07.09.2020 - 14:05DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Moyle, there is no correction to this pattern - make sure to check your tension (= 24 sts x 39 rows in seed stitch with larger needle = 10 x 10 cm). Happy knitting!

Gauge: 24 sts and 39 rows on larger needles in seed st = 10 x 10 cm (4" x 4"). (Note! It is very important to maintain the row gauge as well as the stitch gauge -- otherwise the shaping on the wraparound will not be correct.) Seed stitch (on an even number of sts): Row 1: * K 1, P 1 * Row 2: * P 1, K 1 * repeat these two rows Seed stitch (on an odd number of sts): All rows: K 1, *P 1, K 1* Garter st, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows. Garter st, when knitting in the round: *Rnd 1, knit. Rnd 2, purl.* Repeat from * - *. Right front: Cast on 94 (100-108) sts on smaller needles and knit 2 rows garter st. Change to larger needles and knit seed st to finished dimensions. When the work measures 3 cm [1.25"] dec 1 st on the right side and, at the same time, inc 1 st on the left side every 12th (10th-11th) row 4 (5-5) times. At the same time, when the work measures 6 cm [2-⅜"] (approx. 96 (102-110) sts on needle), decrease on the right side (center front) inside 1 edge st (knit in garter st throughout) every other row: 2 sts 19 (18-18) times, 1 st 16 (21-25) times, then 1 st every 4th row 13 (13-13) times. Dec 2 sts as follows: Knit or purl 3 sts together, depending on which best fits with the seed st pattern. Dec 1 st as follows: Knit or purl 2 sts together, depending on which best fits with the seed st pattern. When the work measures 19 (20-21) cm [7.5" (7-⅞" - 8.25")], bind off for armholes on the left side every other row: 3 sts 2 times, 2 sts 3 (4-4) times, 1 st 3 (3-4) times. When the armhole and wraparound shaping are finished 17 (19-22) sts remain on the needle. When the work measures 38 (40-41) cm [14-⅞" (15.75" - 16.5")], bind off for the shoulder every other row: 3 (4-4) sts 5 (1-4) times, 2 (3-3) sts 1 (5-2) times. All sts are bound off and the work measures approx. 41 (43-45) cm [16-⅛" (16-⅞" - 17.75")]. Left front: Cast on and knit like the right, but mirror-image reversed. Back: Cast on 94 (100-108) sts on smaller needles and knit 2 rows garter st. Change to larger needles and knit seed st to finished dimensions. When the work measures 3 cm [1.25"], inc 1 st each side every 12th (10th-11th) row 4 (5-5) times. 102 (110-118) sts. When the work measures 19 (20-21) cm [7.5" (7-⅞" - 8.25")], bind off for armholes as on the front. 72 (76-82) sts. When the work measures 38 (40-42) cm [14-⅞" (15.75" - 16.5")], bind off for the shoulder as on the front. At the same time, when the work measures 39 (41-43) cm [15.25" (16-⅛" - 16-⅞")], bind off the center 32 (32-32) sts for the neck. Bind off at each neck edge every other row: 2 sts 1 time, 1 st 1 time. When all sts have been bound off the work measures approx. 41 (43-45) cm [16-⅛" (16-⅞" - 17.75")]. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Lay the right front over the left and sew side seams. Crochet border: Crochet with double yarn from the right side as follows: 1 row of approx. 150-160 single crochet (sc) around the garter st edges along the shoulder straps and neck. Then crochet the next row from the right side as follows: a row of sc in the opposite direction from left to right without turning the work (reverse crochet) - 1 sc into each sc from the previous row. Repeat both rows around the armholes over approx. 60-70 sc. If necessary, the right and left front can be sewn together in the lower corner so that they are held in place. A st may also be sewn at the center front so that the "overlaps" are held in place. |
