This yarn is discontinued--which yarn would you recommend as a substitute?

Hi Selja, Drops Big Delight belonged to yarn group C. Our yarns are produced so all the yarns in one group can be used for the same pattern. To find our yarns in group C, click on Yarns and Needles at the top of the page, then Yarn Groups in the right-hand column. Regards, Drops Team.

What does "Place the squares with 4 squares in width and 6 squares in height. Sew tog with Eskimo, first alongside, then across." mean? I'm trying to picture what you mean - sew all the seams going up and down, then sew all the seams going across? Wouldn't the squares not be well secured and move a bunch when trying to do it this way? Is the idea to use just one length of yarn for each seam the width of the blanket?

Dear Kimberly, it means that the squares should be put out 4 squares along in a row, and 6 rows below each other. First you should sew together the columns (the squares under each other one by one), then you should sew the columns together. I hope this helps. Happy Crocheting!

Knitted DROPS blanket with short rows in ”Big Delight”.

SHORT ROWS: Work 1 row over the first 8 sts, turn and work back. Work 1 row over the first 7 sts, turn and work back. Continue with short rows, work over 1 st less for every time until 2 rows have been worked only over the first st. Then work 1 row over the first 2 sts, turn and work back, 1 row over the first 3 sts, turn and work back. Continue like this by working 1 st more for every time until 1 row has been worked over the first 8 sts, turn and work back. 1 repetition with short rows = 30 rows. ---------------------------------------------------------- BLANKET: The entire square is worked in GARTER ST, i.e. K all rows. Arrows in figure A.1 show knitting direction. Cast on 8 sts on needle size 6 mm / US 10 with Big Delight and work in garter st while AT THE SAME TIME working 1 repetition with SHORT ROWS - see explanation above. Then K 2 rows over all sts, work 1 repetition with short rows, K 2 rows over all sts and 1 repetition with short rows again. Then work 1 row over all sts (from RS), work next row as follows (from WS): * Pick up in edge st from cast-on edge, work first st from left needle, pass the new st over, work the rest of row, work 1 row from RS *, repeat these 2 rows from *-* until 1 st has been picked up in every st along cast-on edge. Work 1 repetition with short rows. Then work 1 row over all sts (from RS), work next row as follows (from WS): ** Pick up in edge st along the side on previous row, work first st from left needle, pass the new st over, work the rest of row, work 1 row from RS **, repeat from **-** until 1 st has been picked up in every ridge along the entire side from previous row. Work 1 repetition with short rows, repeat from **-** until 1 st has been picked up in every ridge along the entire side from previous row. Continue like this in the round until 2 rounds have been worked around the middle - see A.1. Bind off and fasten the yarn. Knit 24 squares in total the same way. ASSEMBLY: Place the squares with 4 squares in width and 6 squares in height. Sew tog with Snow, first alongside, then across. Sew with whip stitches. Then sew around the entire blanket with buttonhole stitches. |
