ENGLISH RIB (back and forth on needle): ROW 1: 1 st in garter st, * K 2 tog, 1 YO, slip 1 st as if to P *, repeat from *-* until 3 sts remain, finish with K 2 tog and 1 st in garter st. ROW 2: 1 st in garter st, * 1 YO, slip 1 st as if to P, K tog YO and slipped st *, repeat from *-* until 2 sts remain, finish with 1 YO, slip 1 st as if to P, 1 st in garter st. ROW 3: 1 st in garter st, * K tog YO and slipped st, 1 YO, slip 1 st as if to P *, repeat from *-* until 3 sts remain, K tog YO and slipped st, 1 st in garter st. Repeat 2nd and 3rd row upwards. -------------------------------------------------------- HEAD BAND: Worked back and forth on needle and sewn tog when finished. Cast on 31 sts on needle size 3.5 mm / US 4 with 1 strand Alpaca and 1 strand Kid-Silk. Work ENGLISH RIB - see explanation above. When piece measures approx. 48 cm / 19" (or desired length) - finish after 3rd row in English rib - work next row as follows: 1 st in garter st, * P 1, K tog YO and slipped st *, repeat from *-* until 2 sts remain, finish with P 1 and 1 st in garter st. Bind off with K over K and P over P. Sew tog with neat stitches to make the seam invisible. Band: Cast on 11 sts on needle size 3.5 mm / US 4 with 1 strand Alpaca and 1 strand Kid-Silk. Work rib as follows: * K 1, P 1 *, repeat from *-* and finish with K 1. Continue like this until piece measures approx. 8 cm / 3". Bind off sts with K over K and P over P. Fold this rib band around the seam on the head band. Sew tog with neat stitches on the back to make the seam invisible. -------------------------------------------------------- SCARF: Loosely cast on 64 sts on needle size 5 mm / US 8 with 1 strand Alpaca and 1 strand Kid-Silk. Work first row as follows (from WS): 1 edge st in garter st, * P 2 tog, K 1 *, repeat from *-* and finish with P 2 tog and 1 edge st in garter st = 43 sts. Then work ENGLISH RIB (back and forth on needle) - see explanation above. Continue like this until piece measures approx. 160 cm / 63" - finish after 2nd row in English rib. Work next row as follows: K 1, * K tog YO and slipped st, P 1 *, repeat from *-* until 1 st remains, finish with K 1. Now loosely bind off sts with K over K and P over P. CROCHET BORDER: Work along cast on and bind off edge. Crochet with 2 strands Kid-Silk on crochet hook size 4 mm / G/6. Work * 1 sc, ch 4, skip 1 st *, repeat from *-* and finish with 1 sc in last st. |
