Sallyann, the amounts are correct. Highlander which is discontinued had a yardage of 80 m = 87 yards per skein. You can substitute with for example Eskimo or Andes, but note that they have 50 m = 54 yds per skein, so you will have to calculate based on that.

Hej Igen.

Tak for hjælp! C.

Gauge: 10 sts x 16 rows in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm. Poncho: The poncho is knit in two pieces and crocheted together. 1st piece: Loosely cast on 44 (50) sts with Highlander and knit stockinette st. When the piece measures 68 (78) cm bind off all sts loosely. 2nd piece: Cast on and knit the same as the 1st side. Assembly: Crochet pieces together with Highlander. Lay bound-off edge of 1st piece to right long side of 2nd piece, from the cast-on edge to 44 (50) cm above it. Crochet the 2 pieces together with sc. Then crochet the bound-off edge of the 2nd piece to the 1st piece in the same manner. Crochet sc around neck opening with 1 strand Highlander, 1 strand Snow nr 26 and 1 strand Snow nr 08 – crochet loosely and make sc approx. 2 cm long before crocheting a new sc. Fringe: 1 fringe tuft = 1 strand Snow nr 08, 2 strands Snow nr 26 and 2 strands Highlander (= 5 strands) approx. 40 cm long. Fold strands in half, pull loop through sts on poncho and pull ends through loop. Put 1 fringe tuft at lower edge at center front and center back. Then divide fringe tufts between these, spacing them approx. 6-7 cm apart. Tips: If the fringe curls, wet fringe, shake hard and let dry. Crocheted blossoms: Crochet 1 small and 2 large blossoms in Snow as follows: Small blossom: 1 petal layer in nr 08 and 2 petal layers in nr 26. Large blossom: 3 petal layers in nr 26 and 1 petal layer in nr 08. Round 1: * 1 sc in ring, ch 3 ,* repeat * - * a total of 3 times and finish with 1 sl st in 1st sc at start of row = 3 ch-loops. Round 2: Crochet as follows in each ch-loop: 1 sl st, 5 dc and 1 sl st = 3 petals. Turn piece and crochet the next row from blossom’s back side. Round 3: ch 1, 1 sc around first sc on row 1, ch 3, 1 sc in lower edge between the 3rd and 4th dc on first petal of row 2, then ch 3, 1 sc in lower edge between the 1st and 2nd dc on 2nd petals on row 2, then ch 3, 1 sc in lower edge between the 5th and 6th dc on 2nd petal on row 2, then ch 3, 1 sc in lower edge between the 1st and 2nd dc on 3rd petal on row 2, then ch 3, 1 sl st in 1st ch at start of row = 5 ch-loops. Turn piece and crochet the next row from blossom’s front side. This is the beginning of the second petal layer: Round 4: Crochet as follows in each ch-loop: 1 sl st, 6 dc and 1 sl st = 5 petals. Turn piece and crochet the next row from blossom’s back side. Round 5: ch 1, 1 sc around first sc on row 3, ch 3, 1 sc in lower edge of the 5th dc on first petal of row 4, then ch 3, 1 sc in lower edge of the 4th dc on 2nd petal of row 4, then ch 3, 1 sc in lower edge of the 3rd dc on 3rd petal of row 4, then ch 3, 1 sc in the lower edge of the 2nd dc of 4th petal of row 4, then ch 3, 1 sc in the lower edge of the 1st dc of 5th petal of row 4, then ch 3, 1 sl st in 1st ch at start of row = 6 ch-loops. Turn piece and crochet the next row from blossom’s front side. Round 6: Crochet as follows in each ch-loop: 1 sl st, 6 dc and 1 sl st = 6 petals. This is the end of the small blossom – cut yarn and fasten. Continue for large blossom: Round 7: ch 1, 1 sc around 1st sc of row 5, ch 3, 1 sc in the lower edge of the 5th dc on first petal of row 6, then ch 3, 1 sc in the lower edge of the 4th dc on 2nd petal of row 6, then ch 3, 1 sc in the lower edge of the 3rd dc on 3rd petal of row 6, then ch 3, 1 sc in the lower edge of the 2nd dc on 4th petal of row 6, then ch 3, 1 sc in the lower edge of the 1st dc on 5th petal of row 6, then ch 3, 1 sc in the sl st on the 5th petal of row 6, then ch 3, 1 sl st in 1st ch at start of row = 7 ch-loops. Turn piece – crochet the next row from blossom’s front side. This is the beginning of the third petal layer: Round 8: Crochet as follows in each ch-loop: 1 sl st, 6 dc and 1 sl st = 7 petals. Cut yarn and fasten. Sew a safety pin on back side of each rose and fasten along neckband of poncho as seen in photo. |
