Hej.

Dag Riet,

Bon tricot!

Dear Karen, the measurements in the size chart are correct. There seems to be a typo in the finished measurements indicated in the US materials section; please follow the indications in the size chart to choose the desired size. Happy knitting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows, from both the right and wrong side. 1 ridge in height = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.5. Choose diagram for your size. The diagrams show the pattern from the right side. DECREASE TIP: To work out how to decrease evenly, count the total number of stitches to be decreased over (e.g., 22 stitches) and divide by number of decreases to be made (e.g., 5) = 4.4. In this example decrease by knitting each 3rd and 4th stitch together. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- VEST - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The piece is worked in the round, bottom up as far as the armholes, then divided and the front and back pieces finished separately back and forth. The shoulder seams are sewn and stitches knitted up around each armhole for the sleeve-edges. Finally stitches are knitted up around the neckline and the neck is worked. If there is a «0» in your chosen size, skip the information and go straight to the next instruction. BODY: Cast on 244-244-268-284-324-332 stitches with circular needle size 3.5 MM = US 4, 1 strand DROPS Soft Tweed and 1 strand DROPS Kid-Silk (= 2 strands). Work rib and PATTERN – read description above as follows: Work rib (knit 2, purl 2) across the first 8-8-12-20-20-24 stitches, knit 2, A.1, rib (knit 2, purl 2) across the next 16-16-20-20-20-20 stitches, knit 2, A.1, A.2, A.1, rib (knit 2, purl 2) across the next 16-16-20-20-20-20 stitches, knit 2, A.1, rib (knit 2, purl 2) across the next 8-8-12-20-20-24 stitches, knit 2, A.1, rib (knit 2, purl 2) across the next 16-16-20-20-20-20 stitches, knit 2, A.1, A.2, A.1, rib (knit 2, purl 2) across the next 16-16-20-20-20-20 stitches, knit 2, A.1. Work this rib for 6-6-6-7-7-7 cm = 2⅜"-2⅜"-2⅜"-2¾"-2¾"-2¾". Continue as follows: Change to circular needle size 5 MM = US 8. Work 10-10-14-22-22-26 stockinette stitches, decreasing 2-0-2-2-0-0 stitches evenly over these stitches – read DECREASE TIP (= 8-10-12-20-22-26 stockinette stitches left), work A.3 across A.1, work 18-18-22-22-22-22 stockinette stitches, decreasing 3-1-3-2-5-2 stitches evenly over these stitches (= 15-17-19-20-17-20 stockinette stitches left), work A.3 across A.1, A.4 across the next 36-36-36-36-48-48 stitches (across A.2), work A.5 across A.1, work 18-18-22-22-22-22 stockinette stitches, decreasing 3-1-3-2-5-2 stitches evenly over these stitches (= 15-17-19-20-17-20 stockinette stitches left), work A.5 across A.1, work 10-10-14-22-22-26 stockinette stitches, decreasing 2-0-2-2-0-0 stitches evenly over these stitches (8-10-12-20-22-26 stockinette stitches left), work A.3 across A.1, work 18-18-22-22-22-22 stockinette stitches, decreasing 3-1-3-2-5-2 stitches evenly over these stitches (= 15-17-19-20-17-20 stockinette stitches left), work A.3 across A.1, A.4 across the next 36-36-36-36-48-48 stitches (across A.2), work A.5 across A.1, work 18-18-22-22-22-22 stockinette stitches, decreasing 3-1-3-2-5-2 stitches evenly over these stitches (= 15-17-19-20-17-20 stockinette stitches left), work A.5 across A.1 = 228-240-252-272-304-324 stitches. Continue this pattern in the round until the piece measures 27-28-29-30-31-32 cm = 10⅝"-11"-11⅜"-11¾"-12¼"-12½". Remember to maintain the knitting gauge. DIVIDE FOR ARMHOLES: On the next round, divide for the armholes as follows: Start 3-3-3-4-4-5 stitches before beginning of round and bind off the next 6-6-6-8-8-10 stitches, work 108-114-120-128-144-152 stitches as before (= front piece), bind off the next 6-6-6-8-8-10 stitches, work 108-114-120-128-144-152 stitches as before (= back piece). The front and back pieces are finished separately. BACK PIECE: = 108-114-120-128-144-152 stitches. Continue the pattern back and forth, binding off for the armholes every 2nd row as follows: Bind off 2 stitches 0-0-0-1-2-2 times on each side, then 1 stitch 1-2-3-4-3-4 times on each side = 106-110-114-116-130-136 stitches. Continue the pattern but with the outermost stitch on each side worked in GARTER STITCH – read description above. When the piece measures 55-57-59-61-63-65 cm = 21⅝"-22½"-23¼"-24"-24¾"-25½", place stitches on threads for the diagonal shoulders and work the neckline as follows – read both sections before continuing. DIAGONAL SHOULDERS: Place the outermost 3-3-3-4-4-4 stitches by the armhole on a thread (work these stitches first to avoid cutting the strand). Place 3-3-3-4-4-4 stitches on the threads 4 times on each side (= 12-12-12-16-16-16 stitches on each thread). NECKLINE: AT THE SAME TIME, when there is 1 row left before the piece measures 57-59-61-63-65-67 cm = 22½"-23¼"-24"-24¾"-25½"-26⅜", decrease 6-6-6-6-8-8 stitches evenly across A.4. On the next row bind off the middle 26-26-26-26-30-30 stitches for the neckline and finish each shoulder separately. Continue placing stitches on the thread for the shoulder and bind off 2 stitches on the next row from the neck. When all stitches are either on a thread or bind off, there are 23-25-27-24-28-31 shoulder-stitches left on the needle and the piece measures approx. 59-61-63-65-67-69 cm = 23¼"-24"-24¾"-25½"-26⅜"-27⅛" from the top of the shoulder. Place the 12-12-12-16-16-16 stitches from the thread back on the needle together with the other 23-25-27-24-28-31 stitches = 35-37-39-40-44-47 stitches. Knit 1 row from the right side and decrease 3-3-3-3-4-4 stitches evenly across each cable (= 6-6-6-6-8-8 decreased stitches) = 29-31-33-34-36-39 stitches – NOTE: To avoid holes in the transitions between stitches placed on the thread, pick up the strand between 2 stitches and knit it twisted together with the next stitch on the left needle. Knit 1 row from the wrong side then bind off with knit from the right side. The piece measures approx. 60-62-64-66-68-70 cm = 23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼"-26"-26¾"-27½" from the top of the shoulder. Work the other shoulder in the same way (cut the strand and begin from the right side, when all stitches are back on the needle). FRONT PIECE: = 108-114-120-128-144-152 stitches. Continue the pattern but with the outermost stitch on each side worked in garter stitch. When there is 1 row left before the piece measures 54-56-57-58-59-60 cm = 21¼"-22"-22½"-22¾"-23¼"-23⅝", decrease 6-6-6-6-8-8 stitches evenly across A.4 = 100-104-108-110-122-128 stitches. On the next row place the middle 18-18-18-16-16-16 stitches on a thread for the neckline and finish each shoulder separately. You now bind off for the neckline and place stitches on a thread for the shoulder. Read both sections before continuing. NECKLINE: Bind off on every 2nd row: 2 stitches 2-2-2-2-3-3 times, then 1 stitch 2-2-2-3-3-3 times. DIAGONAL SHOULDER: AT THE SAME TIME, when the piece measures 55-57-59-61-63-65 cm = 21⅝"-22½"-23¼"-24"-24¾"-25½", place the outermost 3-3-3-4-4-4 stitches by the armhole on a thread (work these stitches first to avoid cutting the strand). Place 3-3-3-4-4-4 stitches on the thread 4 times (= 12-12-12-16-16-16 stitches on the thread). Knit 1 row from the wrong side, then bind off with knit from the right side. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams, inside the bind-off edge. SLEEVE-EDGES: Use circular needle size 3.5 MM = US 4 and 1 strand of each quality (2 strands). Start from the right side, mid-under the sleeve and knit up 112-116-120-124-128-132 stitches around the armhole, inside the 1 edge stitch; stitch count must be divisible by 4. Work rib in the round (knit 2, purl 2) for 4-4-4-5-5-5 cm = 1½"-1½"-1½"-2"-2"-2" – AT THE SAME TIME on the last round decrease 12-12-14-14-16-16 stitches evenly by purling 2 together in each of the middle 12-12-14-14-16-16 purled sections at the top of the sleeve-edge (this avoids the sleeve-edge flipping up). Work 3 rounds of stockinette stitch (= rolled edge). Change to circular needle size 5 MM = US 8 and bind off a little loosely with knit. NECK: Use circular needle size 3.5 MM = US 4 and 1 strand of each quality (2 strands). Start from the right side by one shoulder seam and knit up 84-84-88-88-100-100 stitches (including the stitches from the thread in front) - the stitch count must be divisible by 4. Work rib in the round (knit 2, purl 2) for 6-6-7-7-8-8 cm = 2⅜"-2⅜"-2¾"-2¾"-3⅛"-3⅛". Work 3 rounds of stockinette stitch (= rolled edge). Change to circular needle size 5 MM = US 8 and bind off a little loosely with knit. |
