Ines

Hello! Would this pattern be possible to follow with a smaller height? say 13-15cm? Thank you
16.01.2024 - 12:27DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Avram, you will find some more small shawls here but I'm afraid they won't be shorter in width, you might have to adjust to the desire width/length matching your tension etc. Happy knitting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- EDGE STITCHES: At the beginning of each row work 2 edge stitches as follows: Slip 1 stitch purl-wise with the strand in front, knit 1. At the end of each row work 2 edge stitches as follows: Work until there are 2 stitches left on the row, slip 1 stitch purl-wise with the strand in front, knit 1. Repeat at the beginning and end of each row. GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SHAWL – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked back and forth on circular needle, from side to side. SHAWL: Cast on 5 stitches with circular needle size 5 MM = US 8 and 1 strand DROPS Alpaca and 1 strand DROPS Kid-Silk. Read EDGE STITCHES and GARTER STITCH in explanations above and work as follows: ROW 1 (right side): Work 2 edge stitches, 1 garter stitch and 2 edge stitches. ROW 2 (wrong side): Work 2 edge stitches, 1 garter stitch and 2 edge stitches. ROW 3 (right side): Work 2 edge stitches, make 1 yarn over, 1 garter stitch and 2 edge stitches. The yarn over is knitted twisted on the next row – no hole. ROWS 4-10: Work 2 edge stitches, garter stitch until there are 2 stitches left, 2 edge stitches. ROW 11 (right side): Work 2 edge stitches, make 1 yarn over, garter stitch until there are 2 stitches left, 2 edge stitches. The yarn over is knitted twisted on the next row – no hole. Repeat rows 4-11 onwards, increasing every 8th row (= every 4th row from the right side), with 2 edge stitches on each side and increasing numbers of garter stitches in the middle. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! When the piece measures 62 cm = 24⅜" from cast-on edge, there are approx. 31 stitches on needle. Work in garter stitch with the edge stitches as before but without further increases for 3 cm = 1⅛" (piece measures approx. 18 cm = 7" in width). Continue with garter stitch and edge stitches as before, but on the next row decrease 1 stitch inside the 2 edge stitches on the same side as the increases were worked. Decrease from the right side as follows: Work 2 edge stitches, slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, work garter stitch until there are 2 stitches left, 2 edge stitches. Repeat this decrease every 8th row (every 4th row from the right side) until there are 5 stitches left on the row. Work 2 rows without decreasing and bind off on the next row. The shawl measures approx. 127 cm = 50". |
