Bon tricot!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge in height = Knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. DECREASE TIP (for sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. BINDING-OFF TIP: To avoid the bind-off edge being tight you can bind off with a larger size needle. If the edge is still tight, make 1 yarn over after approx. each 4th stitch at the same time as binding off and the yarn overs are bind off as normal stitches. BUTTONHOLES: Work buttonholes on right band (when garment is worn). Work from the right side when there are 3 stitches left on row as follows: Make 1 yarn over, knit 2 together and knit the last stitch. On the next row knit the yarn over to leave a hole. The first buttonhole is worked when the neck measures 1½-2 cm = ½"-¾". Then work the other 4-4-4-5-5-5 buttonholes with approx. 8 cm = 3⅛" between each one. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JACKET – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE. The piece is worked back and forth with circular needle, top down. The sleeves are worked in the round with double pointed needles/short circular needle, top down. NECK: Cast on 76-80-84-88-92-96 stitches (including 5 band stitches on each side towards mid front) with circular needle size 5 mm = US 8 and 1 strand Alpaca Bouclé and 1 strand Kid-Silk. Purl 1 row from the wrong side. Then work rib as follows: 5 stitches in GARTER STITCH – read explanation above (= band), work rib (= knit 2 / purl 2) until there are 7 stitches left on the row, knit 2 and finish with 5 stitches in garter stitch. Remember to work BUTTONHOLES on the right band – read description above. Continue this rib back and forth for 8 cm = 3⅛". Insert 1 marker on the row after the band; the yoke will be measured from this marker! YOKE: Change to circular needle size 6 mm = US 10. Continue back and forth with stockinette stitch and 5 band stitches in garter stitch on each side and on the first row decrease 2 stitches = 74-78-82-86-90-94 stitches. When the piece measures 1 cm = ⅜" – adjust so the next row is worked from the right side – work pattern and increase as follows: SIZES S-M: INCREASE 1: 5 stitches in garter stitch, work A.1 until there are 5 stitches left on the row (= 16-17 repeats in width), finish with 5 stitches in garter stitch. When row 3 in A.1 has been worked you have increased 32-34 stitches = 106-112 stitches. On the next row from the right side increase 0-2 stitches evenly spaced by working 1 yarn over (on the next row purl the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes) = 106-114 stitches. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! Continue with stockinette stitch and garter stitch on each side until the piece measures approx. 8½-9½ cm = 3¼"-3¾" – adjust so the next row is worked from the right side. INCREASE 2: 5 stitches in garter stitch, work A.1 until there are 5 stitches left on the row (= 24-26 repeats in width), finish with 5 stitches in garter stitch. When row 3 in A.1 has been worked you have increased 48-52 stitches = 154-166 stitches. On the next row from the right side adjust the number of stitches to 155-165 stitches. Continue with stockinette stitch and garter stitch on each side until the piece measures approx 15-17 cm = 6"-6¾" – adjust so the next row is worked from the right side. INCREASE 3: 5 stitches in garter stitch, work A.2 until there are 5 stitches left on the row (= 29-31 repeats in width), finish with 5 stitches in garter stitch. When row 3 in A.2 has been worked you have increased 58-62 stitches = 213-227 stitches. On the next row from the right side increase 1-3 stitches evenly spaced = 214-230 stitches. SIZES L-XL-XXL-XXXL INCREASE 1: 5 stitches in garter stitch, work A.1 until there are 5 stitches left on the row (= 18-19-20-21 repeats in width), finish with 5 stitches in garter stitch. When row 3 in A.1 has been worked you have increased 36-38-40-42 stitches = 118-124-130- 136 stitches. On the next row from the right side increase 0-2-0-2 stitches evenly spaced by working 1 yarn over (on the next row purl the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes) = 118-126-130-138 stitches. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! Continue with stockinette stitch and garter stitch on each side until the piece measures 10-11- 12-13 cm = 4"-4⅜"-4¾"-5⅛" – adjust so the next row is worked from the right side. INCREASE 2: 5 stitches in garter stitch, work A.1 until there are 5 stitches left on the row (= 27-29-30-32 repeats in width), finish with 5 stitches in garter stitch. When row 3 in A.1 has been worked you have increased 54-58-60-64 stitches = 172-184-190- 202 stitches. On the next row from the right side increase 2-2-0-0 stitches evenly spaced by making 1 yarn over = 174-186-190-202 stitches. Continue with stockinette stitch and garter stitch on each side until the piece measures approx 18-20-22-24 cm = 7"-8"-8¾"-9½" – adjust so the next row is worked from the right side. INCREASE 3: 5 stitches in garter stitch, work A.1 until there are 5 stitches left on the row (= 41-44-45-48 repeats in width), finish with 5 stitches in garter stitch. When row 3 in A.1 has been worked you have increased 82-88-90-96 stitches = 256-274-280- 298 stitches. On the next row from the right side increase 2-0-18-24 stitches evenly spaced by making 1 yarn over = 258-274-298-322 stitches. Continue with stockinette stitch and garter stitch until the piece measures 17-19-20- 22-24-26 cm = 6¾"-7½"-8"-8¾"-9½"-10¼" from the marker. Now divide the yoke for body and sleeves on the next row from the wrong side as follows: Work the first 35-38-41-44-48-53 stitches (= right front piece), place the next 42-44-52-54-58- 60 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-6-8-8-8 new stitches on the needle (= in side under the sleeve), work the next 60-66-72-78-86-96 stitches (= back piece), place the next 42-44-52-54-58-60 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-6-8- 8-8 new stitches on the needle (= in side under the sleeve) and work the remaining 35-38-41-44-48-53 stitches ( = left front piece). Body and sleeves are finished separately. THE PIECE IS NOW MEASURED FROM HERE! BODY: = 142-154-166-182-198-218 stitches. Continue with stockinette stitch and garter stitch until the piece measures 21-21-22-22-22-22 cm = 8¼"-8¼"-8¾"-8¾"-8 3/4"-8¾". Change to circular needle size 5 mm = US 8 and work 1 row where you increase 2-2-2-2 stitches evenly spaced = 144-156-168-184-200-220 stitches. Then work as follows – from the right side: 5 stitches in garter stitch, * knit 2 / purl 2 *, work from *-* until there are 7 stitches left on the row, knit 2 and finish with 5 stitches in garter stitch. Continue this rib for 6 cm = 2⅜". Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl. NOTE! READ BIND-OFF TIP – it is particularly important that the bind-off edge is not tight. The jacket measures approx. 56-58-60-62-64-66 cm = 22"-22 3/4"- 23 5/8"-24 3/8"-25 1/4"-26" from the shoulder down. SLEEVE: Place the 42-44-52-54-58-60 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on double pointed needles/short circular needle size 6 mm = US 10 and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 48-50-58-62-66-68 stitches. Insert a marker thread in the middle of the 6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches under the sleeve. Allow the thread to follow your work onwards; it will be used when decreasing under the sleeve. Start the round at the marker thread and work stockinette stitch in the round. When the piece measures 4 cm = 1½" from the division decrease 2 stitches mid under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 6½- 6½-3½-3-2½-2 cm = 2½"-2½"-1¼"-1⅛"-⅞"-¾" a total of 5-5-9-10-11-12 times = 38-40-40-42-44-44 stitches. Continue with stockinette stitch until the sleeve measures 36-34-34-33-32-30 cm = 14¼"-13⅜"-13⅜"-13"-12½"-11¾". Knit 1 round where you increase 2-0-0-2-0-0 stitches = 40-40-40-44-44-44 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 5 mm = US 8 and work rib (knit 2 / purl 2) for 4 cm = 1 1/2". Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl – remember BINDING-OFF TIP. The sleeve measures approx. 40-38-38-37-36-34 cm = 15¾"-15"-15"-14½"-14 1/4"-13⅜" from the division. Work the other sleeve in the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew buttons onto the left band. |
