Mittens - before and after felting

In this DROPS video we show a pair of mittens before and after felting. To prevent the thumb from felting together, turn the mitten to WS (wrong side) and place a narrow silk ribbon along the thumb. Secure the ribbon with a safety pin – NB: insert the pin vertically towards the tip of the thumb so it is easy to remove after felting. Turn the mitten back to RS (right side) before felting. 1. Place the mittens in the washing machine with a wool detergent that does not contain enzymes or optical brighteners. 2. Wash at 40 °C / 104 °F, normal spin, no pre-wash. 3. Stretch and shape the mittens to the correct measurements while still wet. 4. If they turn out too small: soak in water until completely wet, then stretch back to the desired size. 5. Afterwards, the mittens can be washed as any other wool garment.

How to felt slippers

In this DROPS video we show a pair of slippers before and after felting (DROPS 86-15). Place the slippers in the washing machine with a wool detergent that does not contain enzymes or optical brighteners. 1. Wash at 40 °C / 104 °F, normal spin, no pre-wash. 2. Stretch and shape the slippers to the correct measurements while still wet. 3. If they turn out too small: soak in water until completely wet, then stretch back to the desired size. 4. Afterwards, the slippers can be washed as any other wool garment.

How to felt the mobile pouch in DROPS 143-9

In this DROPS video we show a mobile pouch knitted in DROPS Big Delight before and after felting. Place the mobile pouch in the washing machine with a detergent without enzymes and optical bleach. Wash warm at 40 degrees with normal spin but no pre-wash. After wash shape the pouch to the right size while still wet and leave to dry flat. If the pouch are too small, put it in water until it are thoroughly wet, and then stretch to right size. At subsequent wash, wash the pouch at regular wool programme. How to make a felted wool ball

Felting is so easy and everyone can do it! In this DROPS video we show how to make a small ball. Wind the yarn around two fingers, after a couple rounds, remove yarn from fingers and continue winding around the yarn until you have a ball. Keep winding the yarn around and around until you have the size on the ball you want. Place the ball in a thin stocking and put it in the washing machine with a detergent without enzymes and optical bleach. Wash at 40 C/104F with normal spin but no pre-wash. At subsequent wash, wash the ball at regular wool programme. Make many balls and put them together to a felted garland!

How to make a felted muff

In this DROPS video we show how you can easily make a delicious felted muff in DROPS Polaris. We use 3 skeins red (08) and 1 skein medium grey (04). Cast on 32 sts on needles size 12. Knit garter st until work measures 45 cm, cast off. Cut the thread, but leave enough length of thread for assembly. Finger Crochet with two fingers, a tie of approx 180 cm with red. Cut up threadends at approx 12 cm (both red and medium gray) and use a crochet hook to attach the tassels on the side and some on in the front of the muff. Cut medium gray threads ends approx 10 cm and attach it on the entire back side. Sew the short sides together and sew the long tie on each side. Place the muff inside out in the washing machine with a detergent without enzymes and optical bleach. Wash at 40 degrees with normal spin but no pre-wash. At subsequent wash, wash the muff at regular wool programme.

How to make felted wrist warmers in DROPS Snow

Felting is so easy and anyone can do it! In this DROPS video we show how you easily can make felted wrist warmers that freshens up any sweater / jacket. In this DROPS video we have used Snow color no 42, powder. Finger Crochet with two fingers the whole skein and felt it. Share the strap in half, sew the strap together as shown in the video, make sure they are not too tight. At subsequent washed wash the wrist warmers at a wool programme.

Felting is so easy and everyone can do it! In this DROPS video we show how to make a hot pad with small felted balls in DROPS Alaska. Wind the yarn around two fingers, after a couple rounds, remove yarn from fingers and continue winding around the yarn until you have a ball. Keep winding the yarn around and around until you have the size on the ball you want. We show how to make two different sizes, but we make the hot pot with the smallest size Place the balls in a thin stocking and put it in the washing machine with a detergent without enzymes and optical bleach. Are there many stockings with balls, one can add every single stocking in a laundry bag / new stocking, so not all stockings twirl together. Wash at 40 C/104F with normal spin but no pre-wash, at subsequent wash. Sew balls together until you have the size you want for the hot pad. The hot pad can be wash later at regular wool programme.
