------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.8. The diagrams show all rows in the pattern from the right side. The colour pattern is worked in stocking stitch. INCREASE TIP: Work until there is 1 stitch left before the marker, make 1 yarn over, knit 2 (marker is between these 2 stitches), make 1 yarn over. Increase like this at all the markers (8 stitches increased). The yarn overs are purled twisted on the next row to avoid holes. DECREASE TIP (sleeves): Work until there are 2 stitches left before the marker-stitch, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, knit the marker-stitch, knit 2 together. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JACKET - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The yoke is worked back and forth, top down, then divided for the body and sleeves. The body is continued back and forth with a lining at the bottom, which is folded up and sewn to the body. The sleeves are worked in the round with double pointed needles. The neck and bands are worked to finish. YOKE: Cast on 79-83 (91-95-95) stitches with circular needle size 3.5 mm and colour grey. Work 1 RIDGE – read description above. Knit the next row and increase 16-12 (20-16-24) stitches evenly spaced = 95-95 (111-111-119) stitches. Purl 1 row with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch on each side. On the next row from the right side insert 4 markers, work pattern and increase to raglan as follows: LEFT FRONT PIECE: Work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, A.1 over the next 12-12 (16-16-20) stitches, A.2, make 1 yarn over, 1 stocking stitch, insert 1 marker. LEFT SLEEVE: Work 1 stocking stitch, 1 yarn over, A.1 over the next 16-16 (16-16-12) stitches, A.2, 1 yarn over, 1 stocking stitch, insert 1 marker. BACK PIECE: Work 1 stocking stitch, 1 yarn over, A.1 over the next 24-24 (32-32-40) stitches, A.2, 1 yarn over 1 stocking stitch, insert 1 marker. RIGHT SLEEVE: Work 1 stocking stitch, 1 yarn over, A.1 over the next 16-16 (16-16-12) stitches, A.2, 1 yarn over, 1 stocking stitch, insert 1 marker. RIGHT FRONT PIECE: Work 1 stocking stitch, 1 yarn over, A.1 over the next 12-12 (16-16-20) stitches, A.2 and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. You have increased 8 stitches to raglan. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Continue to increase on each side of all 4 markers - read INCREASE TIP, every row from the right side a total of 18-20 (21-22-24) times = 239-255 (279-287-311) stitches. The increased stitches are worked into A.1. Work until the piece measures 12-13 (14-15-16) cm from the cast-on edge. Now divide for the body and sleeves: Work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, A.1 over the next 30-32 (36-38-42) stitches (= front piece), place the next 57-61 (65-65-69) stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 7 stitches under the sleeve, work A.1 over the next 62-66 (74-78-86) stitches (back piece), place the next 57-61 (65-65-69) stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 7 stitches under the sleeve, work A.1 over the next 30-32 (36-38-42) stitches, A.2 and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch = 139-147 (163-171-187) stitches. BODY: Work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, A.1 until there are 2 stitches left, A.2 and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. When the body measures 4-6 (5-7-7) cm from the division and the next row is from the wrong side, change to colour light sea green and purl 1 row with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch on each side. Work the next row (right side) as follows: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, * knit 2 together, 1 yarn over *, work from *-* until there are 2 stitches left, knit 1 and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch (folding-edge). Work the lining as follows: On the next row (wrong side) increase 2-0 (2-0-2) stitches evenly spaced (yarn overs are not purled twisted) = 141-147 (165-171-189) stitches. Work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch (this stitch is worked in the same colour as A.4), A.3 until there are 2 stitches left, A.4 and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch (this stitch is worked in the same colour as A.4). Cast off with grey when A.3 and A.4 have been completed in height. The lining measures approx. 3 cm. ASSEMBLY: Fold the lining to the wrong side and sew down neatly with colour grey. SLEEVES: Place the 57-61 (65-65-69) stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on double pointed needles size 3.5 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 7 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 64-68 (72-72-76) stitches. Work A.1 in the round. Insert a marker in the middle of the 7 stitches under the sleeve. When the sleeve measures 2 cm, decrease 1 stitch on both sides of the marker – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 1-1 (1½-1½-2) cm a total of 9-11 (11-11-10) times = 46-46 (50-50-56) stitches. When the sleeve measures 14-17 (20-23-26) cm from the division, knit 1 round where you decrease 10-10 (10-10-12) stitches evenly spaced = 36-36 (40-40-44) stitches. Continue with stocking stitch. When the sleeve measures 17-20 (23-26-29) cm, change to colour light sea green and knit 1 round. Then work as follows: * Knit 2 together, 1 yarn over *,work from *-* over all stitches (folding-edge). Work the lining as follows: Knit 1 round (the yarn overs are not knitted twisted). Work A.7 over all stitches. Continue with colour grey until the lining measures 3 cm. Cast off. Fold the lining to the wrong side and sew down neatly with colour grey. Work the other sleeve in the same way. NECK: Knit up from the right side 1 stitch in each stitch from the first knitted row around the neck, with colour grey and circular needle size 3.5 mm = 79-83 (91-95-95) stitches. Work as follows from the wrong side: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch (this stitch is worked in the same colour as A.6), A.5 until there are 2 stitches left (= 19-20 (22-23-23) times in width), A.6 and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch (this stitch is worked in the same colour as A.6). When A.5 and A.6 have been completed in height the neck measures approx. 3 cm. Work the next row from the right side, with light sea green: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, * knit 2 together, 1 yarn over *, work from *-* until there are 2 stitches left, knit 1 and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch (folding-edge). Purl 1 row from the wrong side with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch on each side (the yarn overs are not purled twisted). Work the next row as follows: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch (this stitch is worked in the same colour as A.8), A.7 until there are 2 stitches left, A.8 and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch (this stitch is worked in the same colour as A.8). When A.7 and A.8 have been completed in height, work 1 row of stocking stitch with colour grey where you increase 10 stitches evenly spaced. Cast off. ASSEMBLY: Fold the lining on the neck to the wrong side and sew down neatly with colour grey. LEFT BAND: Knit up 46 to 66 stitches from the right side, inside the 1 edge stitch on the left front piece, using colour light sea green and circular needle size 3.5 mm. Make sure the band is not tight. Work 2 ridges back and forth. Cast off. RIGHT BAND: Work in the same way as the left band but, on the last row, work buttonholes from the wrong side as follows: Knit 8 stitches, cast on 5 stitches (1 loop), knit 10-12 (12-14-17), cast on 5 stitches (1 loop), knit to the end of the row. Cast off with knit. ASSEMBLY: Sew the buttons inside the left band. |
