How to knit a jumper top down

In this DROPS video we show how to knit a jumper top down in the round on circular needles.
We show how we increase for raglan by doing a YO 2 sts before marker and 2 sts after marker, and on next round K YO twisted to avoid a hole. We have already worked neck (rib) and start the video with the 1st round where we do the increase. We also show how we put the sleeve stitches on a thread, how we cast on new sts under arm and knit the sleeve.

DROPS Design :

Dear Lisa, black oval = between 2 stitches make 1 yarn over, on the next round knit the yarn over twisted (avoids a hole). It's just that the yarn over is between a knit stitch and a purl stitch. This yarn over is then knit twisted on the next row (so knit on the back loop). Happy knitting!

Dear Paulina, which pattern are you working? Could you indicate the pattern number? Unless otherwise specified, you should maintain the established pattern, even if you have finished the increases. For example, you should keep the rib pattern as before. The raglan stitches should now be integrated in the rib pattern. However, some models may have a separate pattern for the raglan stitches to obtain a different texture, so we can't help you unless we know the exact model. Happy knitting!

Door een schouderprobleem kan ik onmogelijk zo'n hele trui aan mijn naalden hebben hangen. In losse onderdelen lukt het nog wel. Maar ik kan nergens meer een gewoon, simpel patroon in tricotsteek vinden.

Dag Jacqueline,

Veel patronen worden inderdaad met de rondbreinaald en van boven naar beneden gemaakt. Als je op de site filtert op constructie van onder naar boven en wat terug scrolt naar de wat oudere patronen, dan vindt je wel patronen met losse panden die je aan elkaar naait.

Verder hebben we een instructie gemaakt om een patroon aan te passen om op rechte naalden te breien. Dit kun je niet voor ieder patroon gebruiken, maar misschien heb je er toch wat aan. Deze instructie vind je hier.

How to work a sleeve to a garment with European shoulder with short rows

In this DROPS video we show how to knit up stitches to one sleeve, working short rows, decrease under the sleeve, increase stitches before the rib, switch to smaller needle and a little bit of the cast off (knit over knit, and purl over purl). Insert 1 marker on the top of armhole (NB: This is not where the stitches were knitted up for the front piece, but a few cm down on the front piece, this is the middle of the shoulder). Start in the middle of the new stitches cast on under sleeve and pick up the number of stitches it says in the pattern around the armhole – adjust so that there are the same number of stitches along armhole on each side of the marker. Now work stocking stitch back and forth with short rows over sleeve cap, to give the sleeve a better fit. Then work in the round with decreases under the sleeve. Follow the description in the pattern on how to work short rows, how and how many decreases, how long the sleeve should be and the rib. How to work European Shoulders with inc to armhole, front pieces together and front & back together

In this DROPS video we show how you cast on stitches between the front pieces to a garment with European shoulders, increase for armholes on each side, how to work the front pieces together and how to work the front and back piece together. From the right side, knit the stitches on the right front piece, cast on new stitches (read how many stitches in the pattern) and knit the stitches that are on a thread/stitch holder on the left front piece. The front pieces are now worked together. Knit stockinette stitch back and forth to the given measurement (11 cm in this video), measured along the armhole. Now increase 1 stitch in each side, increase on the inside of 3 stitches in each side, read INCREASE TIP below. Increase on every 2nd row as many times as it says in the pattern. Continue with stockinette stitch to the measurement says in the pattern (15 cm in this video). Now cast on new stitches under the 1st sleeve, knit the stitches from the back piece and cast on new stitches under the 2nd sleeve. Put the work together and follow the description of the body in the pattern. When you place the front piece on the back piece, please note that the top of the armhole is not where it was knitted up in stitches to the front piece, but a few cm down on the front piece. The front piece is longer than the back piece. How to work european shoulder with increases to the armholes – Backpiece

In this DROPS video we show how to work the first part to a jumper with European shoulder with increases to the armhole, this is the back piece. We increase both for right side (RS) and wrong side (WS). We increase before/after 3 stitches in this video, but this can vary from pattern to pattern. After it has been increased to the correct number of stitches, continue working without increases, then you put a mark in the side(s), the work should be measured from here. The description of where to measure from can vary from pattern to pattern. When you have the correct number of stitches and length (in this video 5 cm), you start by increasing to armholes. Increase as before to the correct number of stitches and cm measurement. Cut the thread and put the stitches on a thread/stitch holder. How to work a central double decrease

In this DROPS video we show how to work a central double decrease, like the one we see in the raglan line to the «Clear Winter Sky» jumper in DROPS 236-24. Work until there is 1 stitch left before marker-stitch, slip 2 stitches as if to knit together, knit 1, pass the slipped stitches over the knitted stitch. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video.
