---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN (applies to hat): See diagram A.1. GARTER STITCH (back and forth): 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- HAT - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Worked in the round on circular needle, bottom up. Switch to double pointed needles when needed. HAT: Cast on 120 stitches on circular needle size 3.5 mm = US 4 with 1 strand of each yarn (= 2 strands). Purl 1 round. Work rib (= knit 1/purl 1). REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! When piece measures 24 cm = 9½", work A.1 (= 12 stitches) 10 times in width in total. When A.1 has been worked 1 time vertically, there are 20 stitches on needles. Knit all stitches together 2 by 2 = 10 stitches. Cut the yarn, tighten together and fasten. Hat measures approx. 31 cm = 12¼". ---------------------------------------------------------- NECK WARMER - SHORT SUMMARY OF PIECE: Work piece back and forth on circular needle and sew together when finished. NECK WARMER: Cast on 151 stitches on circular needle size 3.5 mm = US 4 with 1 strand of each yarn (= 2 strands). Work 1 edge stitch in GARTER STITCH – read explanation above, work rib (= knit 1/purl 1), until 2 stitches remain, finish with knit 1 and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Continue pattern like this. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl when piece measures 14 cm = 5½". ASSEMBLY: Sew short sides together approx. 7 upper cm = 2¾" of short sides. Leave 7 cm = 2¾" for vent. ---------------------------------------------------------- WRIST WARMERS - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. WRIST WARMER: Cast on 40 stitches on double pointed needles size 3.5 mm = US 4 with 1 strand of each yarn (= 2 strands). Work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) in the round until piece measures 12 cm = 4¾" - REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! Then bind off stitches with knit over knit and purl over purl. Work the other wrist warmer the same way. |
