Hello, In the sock pattern, where it says to dec all 3P stiches to 2p, can I just purl 2 together, or do I have to do it the more complicated way? : )

Can you explain “ at the same time on 1st row dec 0-2-0 sts evenly = 18-20-22 sts” for starting the heel?
27.01.2022 - 19:17DROPS Design answered:
Hi Kathy, When you begin working back and forth over the heel stitches, on the first row decrease 2 stitches in size 41/42 by knitting 2 together x 2 evenly spaced over the row. The other sizes do not have a decrease. Happy knitting!

Hello, I have a question about quantity of stitches on start for wool "sockenwolle" for needles 2,5. I would like to do socks for my son. Size 42. I have a problem with counting a proportion for this design. Regards Joanna

Witaj Joanno! Pozdrawiam i powodzenia.

Bon tricot!

HEEL DECREASE: Row 1 (= RS): Work until 5-6-6 sts remain, slip next st as if to K, K 1, psso, turn piece. Row 2 (= WS): Work until 5-6-6 sts remain, slip next st as if to P, P 1, psso, turn piece. Row 3 (= RS): Work until 4-5-5 sts remain, slip next st as if to K, K 1, psso, turn piece. Row 4 (= WS): Work until 4-5-5 sts remain, slip next st as if to P, P 1, psso, turn piece. Continue dec like this with 1 less st before every dec until 10-10-12 sts remain on needle. ---------------------------------------------------------- SOCKS: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 55-60-65 sts on double pointed needles size 4 mm / US 6 with 1 strand ocean view and 1 strand silver fox (= 2 strands). K 2 rounds, then work rib = K 2/P 3. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE When piece measures 20-22-23 cm / 8''-8 3/4"-9", dec all 3 P sts to 2 P sts = 44-48-52 sts. Continue with rib = K 2/P 2 until piece measures 30-31-32 cm / 11 3/4"-12 1/4"-12½". Now keep the first 18-22-22 sts on needle for heel (the first 2 and last 2 sts of this are K sts) and slip the last 26-26-30 sts on 1 stitch holder (= mid on top of foot). Work in stockinette st back and forth over heel sts for 5-5½-6 cm / 2''-2 1/4''-2½'' - at the same time on 1st row dec 0-2-0 sts evenly = 18-20-22 sts. Insert 1 marker, NOW MEASURE PIECE FROM HERE! Then dec for heel - SEE HEEL DECREASE! After heel dec, pick up 10-11-12 sts along each side of heel and slip the 26-26-30 sts from stitch holder back on needle = 56-58-66 sts. Insert 1 marker on each side of the 26-26-30 sts on top of foot. Then work rib over 26-26-30 sts on top of foot, work the other sts in stockinette st - AT THE SAME TIME dec in each side as follows: K the last 2 sts before sts on top of foot twisted tog (i.e. in back loop of st instead of front), K the first 2 sts after sts on top of foot tog. Dec like this every other round 8-7-9 times = 40-44-48 sts. Work rib over 26-26-30 sts on top of foot and in stockinette st over 14-18-18 sts under foot until piece measures 20-22-24 cm / 8"-8 3/4"-9½" from marker on heel (= 4-5-6 cm / 1½''-2''-2 3/8'' / 1½''-2''-2 3/8'' remain). Now insert 1 marker in each side so that there are 20-22-24 sts both on top of foot and under foot. Continue working stockinette st - at the same time dec for toes on each side of both markers. Dec as follows when 3 sts remain before marker: K 2 tog, K 2 (marker is between these sts), K 2 twisted tog. Dec in each side on every other round 3-4-5 times in total and then on every round 4-4-4 times = 12-12-12 sts remain on needle. On next round work all sts tog 2 by 2. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. |
