Shawl: Knitted back and forth on circular needle from bottom edge and up. With 1 strand Alpaca cast on 2 sts on needle size 3 mm [US 2or3] and work garter sts, at the same time inc 1 st each side on every other row by working 2 sts in the 3rd st from edge. My question: do I increase on each side until I have enough stitches to increase on the third stitch on each side?
28.09.2020 - 03:01DROPS Design answered:
Hi Karen, Yes, the first increases will be before you have enough stitches to increase in the 3rd stitch from the both edges. Happy knitting!

If I make this shawl, increasing 1 stitch on each row till it measures 27 1/2 . How are s it ever going to be 55" long? This shawl will make a big square if directions are followed. How do I fold it to make the collar?
04.07.2020 - 01:35DROPS Design answered:
Dear Annette, you start at the bottom tip and need to increase 1 stitch each side of piece, on every other row - garment will take triangle shape. Collar will appear when you button your shawl and fold upper edge. Happy crafting!

Garter st, back and forth on needle: K all rows Measuring tip: Because of the weight of the yarn, make all measurements while the garment is hanging, otherwise it will be too long when worn. Remember the knitting gauge! Bind off loosely when piece measures 70 cm [27½"] – see Measuring tip –from bottom point. Piece is approx 140 cm [55"] wide. Crochet border: Crochet a border round the whole shawl with crochet hook size 5 mm [US H/8] and 1 thread of each quality as follows: 1 sc, *3 ch, skip approx ½", 1 sc*, repeat from *-* and finish with 3 ch and 1 sl st in sc from beg of round. Button cover: Crochet 3 button covers with crochet hook size 3 mm [US C] and 1 strand Cotton Viscose as follows: Crochet 2 ch, then 16 dc in the first ch and finish with a sl st at the top of the first dc = Round 1. Round 2: 1 sc in each dc and finish with a sl st in the first sc from beg of round. Round 3: 3 ch and then 1 dc in every other sc. Finish with a sl st in the 3rd ch on round = 8 dc. Put button inside the cover, run a thread round the edge and pull tight. Place the buttons along the binding off row, approx 1½" from edge and 9,75", 13,75" and 17,75" from one side.
