Hei.

During the last part of the decreases (A2/A5) until 7 stitches remaining, since the first row of A5 is a decrease (K2tog), do you do the remaining rows of A5 before proceeding to A6 pattern?

Hi Amber, A.1 is only worked at the beginning of the piece. A.2 and A.3 are continued onwards. Regards, Drops Team.

13.12.2025 - 23:56DROPS Design answered:
Liebe Renate, nach A.1 strickt man A.2 = 2 Maschen, dann krausrechts bis 4 M übrig sind, dh sofort nach A.1 strickt man 1 Masche krausrechts, dann die 4 Maschen A.3 (= 2+1+4=7 Maschen).

Bon tricot!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows, from both the right and wrong side. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.6. The diagrams show the pattern from the right side. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SHAWL – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked back and forth from side to side. SHAWL: Cast on 5 stitches with circular needle size 3.5 MM = US 4 and DROPS Baby Merino. Knit 1 row from the wrong side. Read PATTERN in explanations above. Work A.1. When A.1 is finished there are 7 stitches. Work A.2, then GARTER STITCH – read description above, until there are 4 stitches left on the row, work A.3. When the diagrams are finished there are 8 stitches (1 stitch increased). Continue with A.2, garter stitch and A.3 until there are 29 stitches. The piece measures approx. 50 cm = 19¾" from the cast-on edge. Remember to maintain the knitting gauge. Continue with A.2 across the first 2 stitches as before, garter stitch until there are 4 stitches left, work A.4 (no increased stitches). Repeat the diagrams 1 more time in height. The piece measures approx. 54 cm = 21¼". You have reached the middle of the shawl. If you would like a longer shawl, repeat the diagrams to desired length. Repeat the diagrams 2 more times (a total of 4 repeats in the middle of the shawl – NOTE: If the diagrams are repeated more times than this, make sure you have equal numbers of repeats on both sides of the mid-line). The piece measures approx. 58 cm = 22¾". Work A.2, garter stitch until there are 4 stitches left, A.5 (= 1 stitch decreased). Continue with A.2, garter stitch and A.5 until there are 7 stitches left. Work A.6. When A.6 is finished, there are 5 stitches left. Bind off. The piece measures approx. 108 cm = 42½" from the cast-on edge. |
