Just finished this Kid Silk #11 and Alpaca mix #4434 which results in a lovely pastel mauve. I love the softness! My only disappointment is the sleeve length ... the model illustration implies longer than just elbow length. (She's a very slim model so the sweater is big on her!) I recommend you knit the sleeves a little longer.

In diagrams A1, A2 and A3 give an instruction that reads "Slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1, pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch" this will result in there being half the number of stitches on the needle at the end of the row. This can't be right can it?

Dear Mrs Ranger, in all these patterns, you dec 1 st and this dec will be compensate by 1 YO, ex in 3rd row in A.1 you will work across: slip 1, k1, psso, YO = number of sts will be the same at the end of row, on next row, work the YO K from RS or P from WS. Happy knitting!

J'aime sa coupe évasée, le délicat point fantaisie autour de l'encolure posé comme une frise. Sa longueur tunique et ses manches longues le classent dans mes préférés de la saison prochaine.

DROPS 178-4 |

RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked in the round): 1 ridge = 2 rounds. Knit 1 round and purl 1 round. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.4. INCREASE TIP: Increase 1 stitch by making one yarn over. On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to prevent holes. DECREASE TIP (evenly spaced): To work out how to decrease evenly, count the total number of stitches on the needle (e.g. 158 stitches) and divide by the number of decreases to be made (e.g. 18) = 8.7. In this example, knit approx. every 8th and 9th stitch together. RAGLAN: Decrease as follows before the marker threads: Work until there are 2 stitches left before the marker thread, knit 2 together. Decrease as follows after the marker threads: Slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1, pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. ---------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER: The piece is worked in the round. BODY: Cast on 218-230-242-262-282-302 stitches with circular needle size 4 mm / US 6 and 1 strand Alpaca and 1 strand Kid-Silk (= 2 strands). Work 2 RIDGES – see description above. The beginning of the round is mid back of the jumper, insert a marker here. Work diagram A.1. When A.1 has been completed in height change to circular needle size 5 mm / US 8. Work the pattern as follows: Knit 28-31-34-39-44-49 stitches, work A.2 (= 53 stitches), knit 56-62-68-78-88-98 stitches, work A.2, knit 28-31-34-39-44-49 stitches. REMEMBER THE GAUGE! When the whole of A.2 has been completed in height there are 150-162-174-194-214-234 stitches on the round. Then continue by knitting all stitches until the piece measures 44-44-44-45-45-45 cm / 17¼"-17¼"-17¼"-17¾"-17¾"-17¾"". The next round is worked as follows: Work 34-37-39-44-48-53 stitches (= half the back piece), bind off the next 7-7-9-9-11-11 stitches (= under the sleeve), work the next 68-74-78-88-96-106 stitches (= front piece), bind off the next 7-7-9-9-11-11 stitches (= under the sleeve), work the remaining 34-37-39-44-48-53 stitches (= half the back piece). Put the body aside and work the sleeves. SLEEVES: Cast on 40-42-48-48-50-54 stitches with double pointed needles size 4 mm / US 6 and 1 strand of each quality (= 2 strands). Work 2 ridges in the round. Work A.1 in the round. When A.1 has been completed in height change to double pointed needles size 5 mm / US 8. Work the pattern as follows: Work A.3 (= 19 stitches), knit 21-23-29-29-31-35 stitches. (repeat A.3 in height until finished length), AT THE SAME TIME when the piece measures 8-9-6-5-5-4 cm/3"-3½"-2½"-2"-2"-1½" from cast on edge increase 1 stitch on each side of A.3 - READ INCREASE TIP. Increase like this on approx. every 7th-6th-5th-5th-4th-4th round 11-12-15-15-18-18 times in total = 62-66-78-78-86-90 stitches. When piece measures 44-43-42-41-40-39 cm/17¼"-17"-16½"-16"-15¾"-15¼" bind off the middle 7-7-9-9-11-11 stitches over A.3 (= mid under the sleeve) = 55-59-69-69-75-79 stitches on the needle. Lay the piece to one side and work one more sleeve in the same way. YOKE: Place the sleeves on the same circular needle size 5 mm / US 8 as the body, where the stitches are bind off for the armholes (do this without working the stitches) = 246-266-294-314-342-370 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in each transition between body and sleeves = 4 marker threads. Knit in the round, AT THE SAME TIME on the first round, decrease to RAGLAN – see description above (= 8 stitches decreased). Decrease in this way every 2nd round 11-13-14-15-16-18 times = 158-162-182-194-214-226 stitches. Work 1 round where you decrease 18-12-22-24-34-36 stitches– READ DECREASE TIP (evenly spaced) = 140-150-160-170-180-190 stitches. Work A.4 (= 10 stitches) 14-15-16-17-18-19 times on the round. When the whole of A.4 has been completed in height there are 112-120-128-136-144-152 stitches on the needle. Knit 1 round where you decrease 24-28-30-34-36-44 stitches evenly along the round = 88-92-98-102-108-108 stitches. Change to circular needle size 4 mm / US 6. Purl 1 round. Work A.1 in the round. When the whole of A.1 has been completed in height, knit 1 round. Bind off in purl and make sure the bind-off edge is not tight! Cut and fasten the strand. ASSEMBLY: Sew together the openings under the sleeves. |
