Hei Herdis. Marit

ZIGZAG PATTERN: Row 1 (= RS): Work 1 st, inc 1 st by working 2 sts in next st, continue until 1 st before st with marker, slip 1 st as if to K, K2 tog, psso, continue until 2 sts before next marker (= the side), inc 1 st by working 2 sts in 1 st, work 2 sts, inc 1 st by working 2 sts in 1 st, continue until 1 st before st with marker, slip 1 st as if to K, K2 tog, psso, continue until 2 sts remain on needle, inc 1 st by working 2 sts in 1 st, work 1 st. Row 2 (= WS): K all sts. Repeat row 1 and 2, i.e. inc 4 sts and dec 4 sts on every other row so that no of sts remain the same. -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- RIGHT MITTEN: Worked back and forth in one piece and sewn tog afterwards. Worked in garter st throughout, i.e. K all rows. Cast on 66-74 sts on needle size 2.5 mm / US 1 with Fabel. Insert 1 marker in st 17-19, 1 marker after 33-37 sts (= the side) and 1 marker in st 50-56. Continue in ZIGZAG PATTERN – see above. When piece measures 12-13 cm / 4¾"-5⅛" work next row from RS like first row in Zigzag pattern, but without inc, i.e. only dec 4 sts = 62-70 sts. K 1 row from WS, and continue in Zigzag pattern with inc and dec as before. When piece measures 13-14 cm / 5⅛"-5½" insert a marker at beg of row (marks the thumb). Work next row as follows (= from RS): Work 1 st, work 2 sts in each of the next 5 sts (= 5 inc sts), continue until 1 st before st with marker, slip 1 st as if to K, K2 tog, psso, continue until 2 sts before next marker (= the side), inc 1 st by working 2 sts in 1 st, work 2 sts, inc 1 st by working 2 sts in 1 st, continue until 1 st before st with marker, slip 1 st as if to K, K2 tog, psso, continue until 6 sts remain on needle, work 2 sts in each of the next 5 sts (= 5 inc sts), work 1 st. There are now 4 inc sts each side for thumb gusset = 70-78 sts on needle. K 1 row from WS. Continue in Zigzag pattern with inc and dec as before. When piece measures 18-19 cm / 7"-7½" work next row as follows (from RS): Work 1 st, inc 1 st by working 2 sts in 1 st, K2 tog on the next 8 sts, continue until 1 st before st with marker, slip 1 st as if to K, K2 tog, psso, continue until 2 sts before next marker (= the side), inc 1 st by working 2 sts in 1 st, work 2 sts, inc 1 st by working 2 sts in 1 st, continue until 1 st before st with marker, slip 1 st as if to K, K2 tog, psso, continue until 10 sts remain on needle, K2 tog on the next 8 sts, inc 1 st by working 2 sts in 1 st, work 1 st. There are now 62-70 sts on needle. K 1 row on all sts. Insert a marker at beg of row (marks the thumb). Continue in Zigzag pattern as before until piece measures 24-25 cm / 9½"-9¾" (4-5 cm / 1½"-2" remain). Now continue in Zigzag pattern, but without inc, i.e. only dec 4 sts on every other row. Continue like this until 14-18 sts remain on needle. Cut the thread and pull it through remaining sts. Tighten and fasten thread. ASSEMBLY: Sew side seam, beg at bottom edge and sew up to first marker that marks the thumb. Sew in outer loops of sts to avoid a chunky seam. THUMB: Beg by the top marker that marks the thumb, pick up 15-16 sts down along the edge to the first marker that marks the thumb. Now pick up 1 st in the middle of side seam and pick up 15-16 sts up along the edge to top marker = 31-33 sts. K 1 row from WS. Insert a marker in the middle st. Now continue back and forth on needle, AT THE SAME TIME dec 2 sts in the middle by working row until 1 st before marker, slip 1 st as if to K, K2 tog, psso. Repeat the dec on every 4th row a total of 4-5 times and then on every other row a total of 8 times = 7 sts left on needle. Cut the thread and pull it through remaining sts. Tighten and fasten thread. ASSEMBLY: Sew tog in outer loops of sts from the top of thumb, down along the thumb and up along the side to the top of mitten. LEFT MITTEN: Like right mitten (the 2 mittens are identical). |
