I've substituted 2 strands of Alpaca Boucle as per instruction, it doesn't even come close to the bulk of puddle, is there another crochet edge/pattern I should try?

Dear Mrs Naudin, you might find inspiration in these patterns that have a crocheted flounce . Happy crocheting!

Dec. as follows after garter 2 sts: Slip 1 st as if to knit, K1, psso. Dec. as follows before 2 garter sts: K2 tog. Increasing tips: Inc. inside 2 garter sts by making a yo. On the returning row twist and knit into the back of yo to avoid a hole. New sts are knitted in stockinette sts. Garter sts: Knit all rows. Back piece: Cast on 38-42-46-51-57 sts on needles size 9 mm = US 13 in Snow or on needle size 8 mm = US 11 in Highlander. Knit 2 rows of garter sts and continue in stockinette sts. When the piece measures 10 and 15 cm = 4" and 6" inc. 1 st each side = 42-46-50-55-61 sts. When the piece measures 19-21-22-24-25 cm = 7½"-8¼"-9¾"-9½"-9¾" knit 2 rows of garter sts over the outermost 4-5-6-7-8 sts each side (continue to knit the other sts in stockinette sts). On the next row bind off the outermost 2-3-4-5-6 sts each side for the armhole. Continue to dec. 1 st each side for the armhole on every other row – read decreasing tips - a total of 1-2-2-3-4 times: 36-36-38-39-41 sts. Continue in stockinette sts with 2 sts in garter sts each side. When the piece measures 35 and 42 cm = 13¾" and 16½" inc. 1 st each side for a wide shoulder – see increasing tips. At the same time when the piece measures 40-42-44-46-48 cm = 15¾"-16½"-17¼"-18"-19" P the centre 14-14-16-17-17 sts from the RS and on the following row bind off the centre 10-10-12-13-13 sts for the neck. Then dec. 1 more st each side towards the neck – see decreasing tips = 14-14-14-14-15 sts left on each shoulder. Continue in stockinette sts and 2 sts in garter sts towards each neck side and bind off remaining sts when the piece measures 44-46-48-50-52 cm = 17¼"-18"-19"-19¾"-20½" . Right front: Cast on 17-19-20-23-26 sts on needles size 9 mm = US 13 in Snow or on needle size 8 mm = US 11 in Highlander. Knit 2 rows of garter sts and continue in stockinette sts at the same time knit the 2 outermost centre sts in garter sts. When the piece measures 10 and 15 cm = 4" and 6" inc. 1 st each side as done for the back = 19-21-22-25-28 sts. When the piece measures 19-21-22-24-25 cm = 7½"-8¼"-8¾"-9½"-9¾" knit 2 rows of garter sts over the outermost 4-5-6-7-8 sts at the side (continue to knit the other sts in stockinette sts). On the next row bind off the outermost 2-3-4-5-6 sts at the side for the armhole. Dec for armhole as done for the back piece = 16-16-16-17-18 sts. At the same time when the piece measures 28-29-30-31-32 cm = 11"-11⅜"-11¾"-12¼"-12½" dec. 1 st for the neck at the centre front on every other row – see decreasing tips - a total of 4-4-4-5-5 times. At the same time when the piece measures 32 and 42 cm = 12½"-16½" inc. at the side for the wide shoulder as done for the back piece. When all dec. and inc. are completed = 14-14-14-14-15 sts left on row. Continue in stockinette sts with 2 sts in garter sts each side until the piece measures 44-46-48-50-52 cm = 17¼"-18"-19"-19¾"-20½" and bind off. Left front: Cast on and knit as right front but reverse. Assembly: Sew the shoulder seams. Sew the side seams in the outer part of the outermost st to avoid a chunky seam. Crochet edge: Crochet with hook size 10 = US N/15 in Puddel around the whole opening as well as around the armholes as follows: 1st round: from the WS: 1 sc in the first st, *4 ch, skip 2 cm = ¾", 1 sc*, repeat from *-* and finish with a sl st in the 1st sc from beginning of round. 2nd round: from the RS: Crochet this round in the cardigan as well, and not in the 1st crochet round as you would normally. 1 sc in between the 2 sc from previous round, *3 ch, skip 2 cm = ¾", 1 sc in between the following 2 sc from previous round*, repeat from *-* and finish with a sl st in the 1st sc on round |
