Bon crochet!

So for the back piece when you are doing the final row it says to tr 10 on both sides leaving the middle 8 unworked but it does not tell you to bind off after 10 then reconnect and do the last 10, so is the innermost tr of the 10 suspose to attach to the other innermost tr on the other side leaving a round opening where the unworked tr's are? Or are we suspose to do 8 chains between the 10 tr's on one side and the other?
04.02.2016 - 18:58DROPS Design answered:
Dear Sheryl, this is done for shoulders: you work 1 row over the first 10 tr on row (= 1st shoulder), then cut the yarn, skip the 8 next sts on previous row (neckline on back piece), join the yarn in the next st and work the next (last) 10 tr on row (= 2nd shoulder). Happy crocheting!

Please can you tell me if I need to chain 1 in between each dtr on back piece after the first row where the pattern says crotchet 1 dtr in each dtr from previous row?
10.01.2014 - 11:52DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Shepherd, there is no ch 1 between each dtr on back piece, neither on row 1, you start on the fundation chain with 1 dtr in the 5th ch from the hook, 1 dtr in the next ch *skip 1ch, 1 dtr in the next 3 ch* repeat from *-* = 24-27-30-33-36 dtr (see size). Continue then with 1 dtr in each dtr from previous row. Happy crocheting!

The tip is telling to work a slip st in first st instead of a tr and this way you will dec 1 st. At the end of the row you don't work the last st on row, but turn before it, to dec 1 st. To dec 2 sts work 2 sl st in beg of row and turn when 2 sts remains on row.

Crocheted Cardigan in Ull-Flamé with Puddel edges and Felted Purse in Puddel and Snow
DROPS 92-20 |

Crochet gauge: 6.5 tr in width and approx. 3 rows in height with Ull-Flamé = 10 x 10 cm. Crochet tips: Replace the first tr of each row with ch 4 and end each row with 1 tr in ch 4 from previous row. Decreasing tips: Bind off or dec as follows: At beginning of row: replace 1 tr with 1 sl st. At end of row: Turn piece when the number of tr to be bound off/dec remains and crochet back. Back: Ch 34-38-42-46-50 loosely (incl. 4 ch to turn with) with Ull-Flame. First row crochet as follows: 1 tr in 5th ch from hook, 1 tr in the next ch, * skip over 1 ch, 1 tr in each of the next 3 ch *, repeat * - * across row = 24-27-30-33-36 tr, turn the work. Crochet 1 tr in each tr from previous row (in, not between). When the piece measures approx. 12 and 26 cm inc 1 tr at each side by crocheting 1 extra tr in the next to outermost tr at each side = 28-31-34-37-40 tr. When the piece measures approx. 39-40-41-42-43 cm bind off for armhole at each side every row – see decreasing tips above: 2 tr 1-1-1-2-2 times and 1 tr 0-1-2-1-2 times = 24-25-26-27-28 tr. When the piece measures approx. 55-57-59-61-63 cm (1 row remains to finished measurements) crochet 1 row with tr over only the outermost 9-9-9-10-10 tr at each side (do not crochet over the center 6-7-8-7-8 tr = neck). Cut yarnn and fasten, the piece measures approx. 58-60-62-64-66 cm. Left front: Ch 19-22-23-26-27 loosely (incl. 4 ch to turn with) with Ull-Flamé. First row crochet as follows: 1 tr in 5th ch from hook, 1 tr in the next ch, * skip over 1 ch, 1 tr in each of the next 3 ch *, repeat * - * across row – for Sizes S + L + XXL end row with 1 tr in each of the 4 last ch (instead of the 3 last ch) = 13-15-16-18-19 tr, turn the work. Crochet tr as on back. When the piece measures 17-20-20-23-23 cm inc 1 tr at the center front a total of 9 times every row by crocheting 1 extra tr in the next to outermost tr at the center front edge. When the piece measures approx. 19 and 33 cm (instead of 12 and 26 cm) inc at the side as on back. When the piece measures approx. 39-40-41-42-43 cm bind off for armhole as on back. After all shaping is complete you have 22-23-23-24-24 tr on the row. When the piece measures approx. 48-50-52-54-56 cm (the incs at the center front edge should be finished) bind off the outermost 13-14-14-14-14 tr at the center front = 9-9-9-10-10 tr remain on shoulder. Continue until the piece measures approx. 58-60-62-64-66 cm, cut yarn and fasten. Right front: Crochet the same as the left, reversing shaping. Sleeve: Ch 27-27-28-28-30 loosely (includes 4 ch to turn with) with Ull-Flamé. First row crochet as follows: 1 tr in 5th ch from hook, 1 tr in the next ch, * skip over ch 1, 1 tr in each of the next 3 ch *, repeat * - * across row – for Sizes S + M end row with 1 tr in each of the last 4 ch (instead of the last 3 ch) and for Sizes L + XL end row with 1 tr in each of the last 5 ch = 19-19-20-20-21 tr, turn the work. Then crochet as on Body with 1 tr in each tr from previous row. On the 3rd row of tr dec 2 tr evenly distributed on the row by skipping over 1 tr from previous row. Repeat dec on the 6th row = 15-15-16-16-17 tr remain. On the next row (the piece measures approx. 20 cm) inc 1 tr at each side a total of 3-4-4-5-5 times: Size S: every 3 rows. Sizes M + L: every other row. Sizes XL + XXL: every row = 21-23-24-26-27 tr. When the piece measures approx. 49-47-47-47-44 cm bind off for sleeve cap at each side every row: 3 tr 1 time, 2 tr 1 time and 1 tr 0-1-1-1-2 times. cut yarn and fasten, the piece measures approx. 56-57-57-57-57 cm. Assembly: Crochet shoulder seams together as follows: 1 sl st in first tr on back, ch 1, 1 sc in first tr on front, ch 1, 1 sc in the next tr on back, and so on. Hood: Crochet 1 row with approx. 18-22 sc around the neck – start 13-14-14-14-14 tr in from center front edgge (= overlapping), continue around the neck until 13-14-14-14-14 tr remain on left front (= overlapping). This row of sc should keep the neckband from stretrhing out, so it should be a little tight. It should matrh the measurements on the schematic. Then crochet tr back and forth over the sc (do not crochet over the outermost 13-14-14-14-14 tr at each side where fronts overlap). After the 1st row of tr inc evenly distributed to 30-32-32-34-34 tr. On the next row after inc bind off 1 tr at each side. Crochet 1 row over all tr, then on the next row bind off 1 tr at each side = 26-28-28-30-30 tr. Continue until hood measures approx. 30-33-33-36-36 cm from shoulder, cut yarn and fasten. Crochet hood together at top in the same manner as shoulders. Crochet in the sleeves, crochet sleeve- and side seams in one in the same manner. Crocheted edge: Crochet around lower edges of sleeves. Crochet around entire edge of Body (up along right front, around hood, down along left front and then along entire lower edge). Crochet with 2 strands Puddel as follows: 1 sc in first st, * ch 3, skip over approx. 2-3 cm, 1 sc in the next st *, repeat from * - *. The edge should be firm, not wavy. Close the cardigan with a sweater pin. FELTED PURSE: Measurements: Before felting: approx. 30 cm wide and 34 cm high [11.75" wide x 13-⅜" high] After felting: approx. 23 cm wide and 28 cm high [9" wide x 11" high] Materials: Garnstudio PUDDEL 150 gr nr 08, charcoal grey and use: Garnstudio SNOW 150 gr nr 02, black DROPS 7 mm [US 10½] needles, or size needed to obtain correct gauge. Gauge: 10 sts x 14 rows in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm Felting: Felt the purse in the washing machine on regular wash cycle at 40 C [104 F] with a small amount of detergent. Purse: Cast on 30 sts around 2 needles with Puddel (so that the cast-on edge will be elastic). Pull out one needle and knit stockinette st. Bind off when the piece measures approx. 68 cm. Assembly: Sew side seams and felt the purse in the machine – see instructions above. Strap: Cut 18 strands Snow approx. 2.5 meters long. Make a knot approx. 18 cm in from one end. Divide the strands into 3 bundles of 6 strands each and braid, leaving approx. 18 cm unbraided. Tie a knot. Fasten knots of strap at each side of the purse a little below top edge of purse so that some of the braid hangs down the side of purse. Pompom: Make 3 pompoms in Snow – see instructions on page 3 of Drops No. 92. Each pompom should be approx. 9-10 cm in diameter. Fasten 2 pompoms where strap is attached at one side and the other pompom on the other side. |
