In this DROPS video we show how to start knitting the Alma shawl in garter st with flounce in DROPS 165-29. In this video we show first row 1-12, then three repeats of row 5-12 (we fast forward the second and third repeat) and end with 21 st on row and we are ready to begin with the FAN pattern. How to knit the fan pattern in DROPS 165-29

In this DROPS video we show how to knit the fan pattern for the Alma shawl in DROPS 165-29. We begin with inserting the marker after the first 5 sts, and knitting first row on RS: K 1, 1 YO and K rest of row, turn piece. Then we knit the FAN pattern. When fan is done (after 32 rows in total), we K back over all sts. To avoid holes in transitions between turns on fan, we slip yarn between each of the 16 sts twisted back on needle and K tog with st. How to knit the shawl in DROPS 143-5

In this DROPS video we show how to knit the Aire shawl in garter stitch with lace pattern in DROPS 143-5. We have cast on 9 st, placed the marker in middle st and we knit as follows (RS): K 3, 1 YO, K 3, 1 YO, K 3 = 11 sts. Then we knit every row while at the same time inc 4 sts on every row from RS as follows: Make 1 YO inside 3 sts in garter st in each side and make a YO on each side of st with marker. On next row K YO to make holes. We knit to 39 st (with fast forward). Then we knit one repeat of charts A.1 and A.2 in the height with A.1 at the right side of the middle and A.2 at the left. Finally we show how to cast of with yo: * Cast off 3 sts, make 1 YO on right needle, cast off YO *. This shawl is made in DROPS Lace, but in the video we knit with a thicker yarn, DROPS Snow. How to cast off with a picot edge in DROPS 169-8

In this DROPS video we show you how to cast off with a picot edge. In the video we knit like this: Cast off the first 2 sts on needle. (*insert right needle in between the 2 first sts on left needle (i.e in between sts on needle not true sts), make a YO on right needle, pull the YO through the sts and slip the YO onto left needle *, repeat from *-* 2 more times (= 3 new sts on left needle). ** K first st on left needle, slip first st on right needle over last st worked **), repeat from **-** 7 times in total and repeat from (-) along the side of the shawl until 1 sts remains.
