DROPS 150-12 – Chart A.1

Keywords: cable, chart, displaced / shifted, poncho,

There are two charts to this pattern, one is worked in the right side and the other one in the left side, so that the garter st ridges are at the outermost edges each side, and the cables pull towards the middle of piece.
Chart A.1 is worked at the outermost edge on left front piece and in the right side (the beginning of row) on the back piece.
On first row work chart A.1 over 22 sts, but since you inc 1 st on every 2nd row the number of sts in the chart will increase and the cable will therefore gradually move to the left, i.e. in over the section in stockinette st.
The 3 sts that are purled in the right side works right over each other all the way, but since you increase 1 st on every 2nd row following the chart this line will move slantwise towards the middle together with the cables.
Also follow the pattern while watching the video. We speed over long pieces of stitches and purl stitches.

To see a pattern with this technique, see: DROPS 150-12 or the picture to the left.

I have the first 32 rows done on the back of this garment. I am not sure how to go on. Can you please help me? Thank you, Joanne

DROPS Design answered:

Dear Mrs Owen, when you have worked A.1 and A.2 1 time in height repeat diagrams in height as before, number of sts in stocking st in the middle gets always smaller while number of sts in A.1/A.2 is getting bigger (there are always more sts before YO in A.1 and after YO in A.2). Happy knitting!
