Pattern instructions

NOTE: This pattern is written in American English. All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from inches to cm - click here. Gauge: 22 sts x 30 rows in stockinette st with 1 strand of each yarn held together = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"].

Garter st, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows.

Pattern: See the chart. (1 chart = 1 repeat). The pattern is seen from right side.

HAT:
First knit the headband, which is then sewn together at the center back. Then pick up stitches around the edge of the headband to knit the top of the hat.

HEAD BAND: With 1 strand of each yarn held together cast on 52 sts and establish pattern as follows:
1st row (WS): K1 (edge st knit in garter st throughout), P 5, K 3, P 3, Pattern 2 (= K3, P3, K4, P6, K2, P6, K4, P3, K3), P 5, K 1 (edge st knit in garter st throughout).

2nd row (RS): K 1, K 5, Pattern 2 (= P3, K3, P4, put 3 sts on st holder in back of work, K 3, K 3 from st holder, P2, put 3 sts on st holder in back of work, K 3, K 3 from st holder, P4, K3, P3), K 3, P 3, K 5, K 1.

Work pattern as established until piece measures approx. 54 - 56 cm [21.25"- 22"] - adjust so you finish after a whole or half repeat of the pattern. Bind off.

Sew together the headband at center back. Fold the outermost 6 sts at each side against the wrong side and stitch down (rolled edge).

Top: Pick up 120 sts on double-pointed needles on the inside of the rolled edge in the sts of the headband – but be sure the picked up sts are not visible from the right side.
Join and put 10 markers in work with 12 sts in between each marker. Knit stockinette st. After 3 rows dec 1 st on the left side of every marker = 110 sts. Repeat decs every third row 4 times and then every other row 5 times = 20 sts.
Pull a double strand of yarn through the remaining sts and pull tight to close.

Deborah 15.12.2018 - 09:38:

Is the jumper pattern also available please?

DROPS Design 15.12.2018 kl. 18:33:

Dear Deborah, here is the jumper. Happy crafting!

Magnin 24.11.2018 - 16:07:

Bon tricot!

Margie 15.11.2018 - 21:38:

Hi. Do I start with the pattern chart immediately or with two rows of the written instruction and THEN knit from chart? Confused where to start. Thank you.

DROPS Design 16.11.2018 kl. 06:05:

Dear Marggie, the pattern is part of row, so you knit it immediately, but AT THE SAME TIME follow written instructions for the first two rows - it says, how the part of row before and after the pattern (M.2) will be knitted. Happy knitting!

Margie Cantor 15.11.2018 - 19:43:

Hi. In making the hat, does the first row represent the first row of the pattern, or do I follow instructions for row one and row two in the written instructions and THEN follow row one from the chart? Thank you.

DROPS Design 16.11.2018 kl. 06:02:

Dear Margie, pattern M.2 is only part of the row, so you need to follow instructions for row 1 and row 2, where you establish the pattern for whole row and AT THE SAME TIME you knit after chart M.2 - see "pattern 2" in written instruction for row 1 and 2. Happy knitting!

Elphege 12.11.2018 - 10:14:

Que veux dire M2 dans votre modele

DROPS Design 12.11.2018 kl. 10:38:
