Pattern instructions

NOTE: This pattern is written in American English. All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from inches to cm - click here. See diagram A.1.

All the stripes are worked with 1 strand Alpaca + 2 strands Kid-silk (= 3 strands). Work 6 cm / 2 3/8'' of each stripe before changing color.
STRIPE 1: 1 strand BabyAlpaca Silk off white + 2 strands Kid-Silk off white.
STRIPE 2: 1 strand BabyAlpaca Silk off white + 1 strand Kid-Silk light pink + 1 strand Kid-Silk off white.
STRIPE 3: 1 strand BabyAlpaca Silk off white + 2 strands Kid-Silk light pink.
STRIPE 4: 1 strand BabyAlpaca Silk off white + 1 strand Kid-Silk medium pink + 1 strand Kid-Silk light pink.
STRIPE 5: 1 strand BabyAlpaca Silk off white + 2 strands Kid-Silk medium pink
STRIPE 6: 1 strand BabyAlpaca Silk light old pink + 1 strand Kid-Silk medium pink + 1 strand Kid-Silk light pink.
STRIPE 7: 1 strand BabyAlpaca Silk light old pink + 2 strands Kid-Silk medium pink.

To work out how to increase evenly, count the total number of stitches on the needle (e.g. 120 stitches), and divide by the number of increases to be made (e.g. 16) = 7.5. In this example, increase alternately after every 7th and 8th stitch.
Increase with 1 yarn over after the stitch and work the yarn over twisted on the next row.

The poncho is worked in the round with circular needle, top down.

Cast on 90-102-114 stitches with 1 strand Baby Alpaca Silk off white + 2 strands Kid-Silk off white (= 3 strands) with circular needle size 7 mm / US 10.75. Knit 1 round, then work rib; knit 1 / purl 2. When the piece measures 12 cm / 4¾'' increase 1 stitch in each knitted section = 120-136-152 stitches. Continue with rib; knit 2 / purl 2. When the piece measures 25-25-25 cm / 9 3/4"-9 3/4"-9 3/4'' knit 1 round where you increase 16-17-18 stitches evenly on round – read INCREASE TIP = 136-153-170 stitches.

Purl 1 round, then work according to A.1 (= 8-9-10 repeats in width), and also work STRIPES – see description above! When A.1 has been worked 1 time in height, there are 232-261-290 stitches on the round. Now repeat the last 6 rounds in the diagram (= A.2) until the piece measures 40-42-44 cm / 15 3/4"-16½"-17 1/4'' from the rib (you have worked approx. 6 cm / 2 3/8'' of each of the 6 first stripes and approx. 4-6-8 cm / 1½"-2½"-3'' of stripe 7). Bind off as follows: * bind off one stitch, make a yarn over and bind off the yarn over,* repeat from *-* until all stitches have been bind off. Fasten the strands.

Rina 06.05.2019 - 14:01:

Hi, I am planning on knitting this beautiful poncho. Could you suggest what ply yarn is required as I want to knit it with one strand only not a combination of strands as in the pattern. The yarns suggested would seem to equal 9ply. When I made a test swatch with 8ply it was no where near the right size. Hope you can help.

DROPS Design 06.05.2019 kl. 14:53:

Dear Rina, please find more informations about alternatives here - for any help choosing another yarn, please contact your DROPS store even per mail or telephone. Happy knitting!

Mandi Quinton 22.04.2019 - 13:16:

I wish your patterns were written normal. I love your designs. I just can not get a hang of your patterns either crochet or knitting.. It would be so good with the crochet if you had someone like blossom crochet or one of those ladies that do video tutorials join your team and do your patterns on youtube. I am sure there would be lots of people the same as me, I have to get someone to rewrite if I want to make something or one of your designs. I am sure your sales would increase

DROPS Design 23.04.2019 kl. 15:34:

Dear Mrs Quinton, we are sorry to hear that you have worries reading our patterns, as you may know, there maybe as many ways to write patterns than there are knitters, you may just try to read it again with new eyes.– you are welcome to ask your questions here, or for any individual assistance reading our patterns and diagrams you are welcome to contact the store where you bought your yarn (even per mail or telephone). Happy knitting!

STRIPE: 1 tråd BabyAlpaca Silk natur + 2 tråder Kid-Silk natur i 6 cm, samtidig som du strikker A.1.

DROPS Design 31.08.2018 kl. 11:27:

Hej Anne, ja du øger 2 masker i hver rapport.

Bereaux Marcelle 24.07.2018 - 10:24:
