GARTER STITCH (back and forth on needle):
1 ridge = knit 2 rows.

GARTER STITCH (in the round on double pointed needles):
1 ridge = 2 rounds. Knit 1 round and purl 1 round.

PATTERN:
See diagram A.1. The diagram shows the pattern seen from right side.
--------------------------------------------------------

SLIPPERS:

LEG:
Cast on 40-40-48 stitches on double pointed needles size 4.5 mm / US 7 with pastel pink. Work 3 ridges in GARTER STITCH – see explanation above, then work A.1 in the round (= 5-5-6 repetitions). When A.1 has been worked 1 time vertically, work 3 ridges with pastel pink, AT THE SAME TIME on last round with purl decrease 4-2-8 stitches evenly = 36-38-40 stitches. Finish piece with pastel pink.

FOOT:
Slip the first 13-13-14 stitches on stitch holder, keep the next 9-11-11 stitches on needle, slip the last 14-14-15 stitches on a stitch holder. Continue with GARTER STITCH – see explanation above, back and forth over the 9-11-11 stitches (= middle part), AT THE SAME TIME on 1st row cast on 1 new stich in each side (edge stitch) = 11-13-13 stitches. When middle part measures 7-8½-10 cm / 2 3/4"-8 1/4"-4'', decrease 1 edge stitch in each side = 9-11-11 stitches. Then slip stitches from stitch holder back on circular needle and pick up 12-14-16 stitches on each side of middle part (inside 1 edge stitch) = 60-66-72 stitches on needle.
NOW MEASURE PIECE FROM HERE! Insert 1 marker thread mid front of toe and 1 marker thread mid back on heel. Continue in the round in garter stitch. When piece measures 2 cm / 3/4'', knit 2 stiches together on each side of every marker thread on every other round (= 4 stitches less per round). Continue decrease until piece measures 5-5-6 cm / 2''-2''-2½'', bind off. Sew together seam mid under foot in outermost stitch to avoid a chunky seam.
