Gauge: 20 sts 26 rows in stockinette stitch = 10 x 10cm

Pattern: See chart. One chart equals one repeat of the pattern.

Garter Stitch, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows.
Garter Stitch, when knitting in the round: * Row 1, knit. Row 2, purl. Repeat from *.

Buttonholes: When the work measures 40 (42-43) cm [15.75" (16.5»-16-7/8")], and the Garter Stitch knitted yoke begins, make the first buttonhole on the right front. Then make buttonholes on the right front when the yoke measures 4.5 (5-5) cm [1-7/8" (2»-2»)], 8.5 (9.5 - 10) cm [3-3/8" (3-5/8"-3-7/8")], 12.5 (14-15) cm [5» (5.5»-5-7/8")], 16.5 (18.5-20) cm [6.5» (7-3/8"- 7-7/8")], and 21 (23-25) cm [8.25" (9»-9-7/8")] as follows: Bind off the 3rd and 4th sts and then cast on 2 sts over the bound-off sts on the next row.

Body: Body is knit back and forth on the needles. Cast on 250 (266-282) sts. Knit in Garter Stitch for 5 cm [2»].. Keep 5 sts at each side edge in Garter Stitch for the button band. Knit pattern 1 one time and then knit Pattern 2, repeating Pattern 2 for the length of the garment.
At the same time, when the work measures: 15,20,25,30 and 35 cm [5-7/8", 7-7/8", 9-7/8", 11.75" and 13.75"], dec 9 (9-9) sts evenly distributed along the row and when the work measures 40 (42-43) cm [15.75" (16.5-16-7/8")] dec 11 (11-11) sts evenly distributed along the row. 194 (210-226) sts remain. Continue from this point in Garter Stitch for the remainder of the body (yoke) and make buttonholes on the right button band (see instructions above).
When the work measures 46 (50-52) cm [18-1/8" (19-5/8"-20.5»)], knit the next row as follows: 49 (53-57) sts front, bind off 4 sts for armholes, 88 (96-104) sts back, bind off 4 sts for armholes, 49 (53-57) sts front. Knit the rest of each part separately from this point.

Front: 49 (53-57) sts. Bind off for armholes every other row: 2 sts 2 (3-4) times, 1 st 4 (5-6) times. 41 (42-43) sts. When the work measures 62 (66-69) cm [24-3/8" (26»-27-1/8")], bind off at the neck edge every other row: 9 (10-10) sts 1 time, 2 sts 3 times, 1 st 2 times, and every 4th row: 1 st 1 time. Bind off when the work measures 70 (74-77) cm [27.5» (29-1/8"-30-3/8")].

Back: 88 (96-104) sts. Bind off for armholes as on the front. 72 (74-76) sts. When the work measures 68 (72-75) cm [29.75" (28-3/8"-29.5)], bind off the center 22 (24-24) sts for the neck. Then bind off 2 sts on each side of the neck edge on the next row. Bind off when the work measures70 (74-77) cm [27.5» (29-1/8"-30-3/8")].

Sleeves: Cast on 78 (78-82) sts on double pointed needles. Join, being careful not to twist the sts. Place a marker at the join and knit in Garter Stitch for 3 cm [1-1/8"]. Change to stockinette stitch and, at the same time, inc 1 st on each side of the marker 9 (9-9) times every other row. 96 (96-100) sts. When the work measures 11 (10.5-11) cm [4-3/8" (4»-3-7/8")], bind off 2 sts on each side of the marker and knit the rest back and forth on the needles. Then bind off for sleeve caps on each side every other row.
Size S: 3 sts 6 times, 5 sts 2 times.
Size M: 3 sts 8 times, 4 sts 2 times.
Size L: 2 sts 9 times, 4 sts 3 times.
