Correction: After the 3 ridge border, instructions are to increase 10 sts evenly on last row, then begin pattern. However, after pattern is complete, thee is no instruction to DECREASE 10 STS on first row of 3 ridge border. Should read: Change to circular needle size 4.5 mm/US7 and work 3 ridges, decreasing 10 sts evenly across first row.

INFORMATION FOR THE PATTERN: RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): 1 ridge = Knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.5. The diagrams show all the rows in the pattern seen from the right side. ---------------------------------------------------------- PONCHO: The piece is worked in 2 parts and is sewn together at the end. Each part is worked back and forth with circular needle. PART 1: Cast on 98-106-114 stitches with circular needle size 4.5 mm and 2 strands Baby Merino. Work 3 RIDGES – see description above, on the last row increase 10 stitches evenly on row = 108-116-124 stitches. Change to circular needle size 5 mm. The next row is worked as follows from the right side: Work 5 stitches garter stitch, A.1 (= 8 stitches) over the next 8-16-16 stitches, A.2 (= 44 stitches), A.1 over the next 8-8-16 stitches, A.3 (= 15 stitches), A.4 (= 11 stitches), A.5 (= 12 stitches) and finish with 5 stitches garter stitch. Continue the pattern in this way. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When the piece measures 82-88-95 cm, change to circular needle size 4.5 mm and work 3 ridges. On the first row decrease 10 stitches evenly on row = 98-106-114 stitches. Then cast off. The piece measures 84-90-97 cm. PART 2: Cast on and work as for part 1. ASSEMBLY: Lay the cast off edge on part 1 against the right long-side of part 2 - from the bottom towards the cast-on edge and approx. 56-60-65 cm upwards – make sure you do not stretch the piece. Sew the 2 parts together with small, neat stitches. Then sew the cast-off edge on part 2 together with the right side of part 1 in the same way. |
