Finish with 1 slip stitch in 3rd chain stitch at beginning of round. Fasten strands. ----------------------------------------------------------- Dress: Work 5-5-6 items of Square 1 and 5-5-6 items of Square 2. Work the squares together with light brown - see fig.1 -so that Squares 1 and 2 alternate. Knit up 264-264-312 stitches with circular needle size 3 mm and light brown at top of crochet edge of squares (knit up approx. 26-26-26 stitches in each square) - knit up stitches with 1 strand so that the transition is as neat as possible. Work M.1 and then M.2. At arrow A in pattern, decrease 24-12-24 stitches evenly on round = 240-252-288 stitches. Then decrease 12-12-12 stitches evenly on each round marked with arrow B = 192-204-240 stitches. After M.2 the piece measures approx. 40-40-40 cm. Continue working with beige and stocking stitch. When piece measures 43-44-45 cm, decrease 10-6-10 stitches evenly on round. Repeat the decrease of 10-6-10 stitches when piece measures 46-48-50 cm and when piece measures 49-52-55 cm = 162-186-210 stitches. When piece measures 57-60-63 cm work M.2 one time in height. Yoke: The yoke is worked from the wrong side so that the wrong side is on the outside. Change to dark heather and turn the piece so that the wrong side is on the outside. Knit 1 round at the same time as you decrease 2 stitches = 160-184-208 stitches. Next round is worked as follows: * K2 together, 1 yarn over *, repeat from *-*. Continue with M.3 over all stitches. When piece measures 69-73-76 cm, cast off 10-12-14 stitches in each side for armholes. Front and back pieces are finished separately. Front piece: = 70-80-90 stitches. Continue to decrease for armholes every 2nd row - see Knitting tip: 1 stitch x 2-3-6 = 66-74-78 stitches. When piece measures 74-78-82 cm, work next row as follows (seen from wrong side): * K2, 1 yarn over *, repeat from *-*. Cast off all stitches on next row. Back piece: = 70-80-90 stitches. Finish in same way as front piece. Assembly: Turn piece so that right side is on outside. Crochet with hook size 3 mm and dark heather double crochets around top of dress. Strap: Work 2 straps outermost on each side of front piece with1 cm between each. 1 strap is worked as follows: Row 1: 4 treble crochets (first treble crochet replaced by 3 chain stitches). Repeat row 1 upwards 1 until strap measures approx. 20-22-24 cm - adjust fit of strap by trying dress on. Fasten strap at back with double crochets. Twisted cord: Cut 6 strands of 250 cm in following colours: 2 strands dark heather, 1 strand light brown, 1 strand beige, 1 strand turquoise and 1 strand orange. Get a friend to help by holding one end of all strands. Twist strands together until they begin to resist. Fold cord double and allow it to continue twisting. Tie a knot in each end and thread cord through lace-edge under the yoke. |
