---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH: Knit on all rows, i.e. knit from right side and knit from wrong side. 1 ridge vertically = knit 2 rows. BAND WITH I-CORD: BEGINNING OF ROW: Work band as follows (= 7 stitches): Slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1 and work 5 stitches in garter stitch. END OF ROW: Work band as follows (= 7 stitches): Work until 7 stitches remain on row, work 5 stitches in garter stitch, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. Work the same way both from right side and wrong side. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.10. See start arrow for size! Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. Read the diagrams from right to left when working from right side and from left to right when working from wrong side. SLEEVE TIP: When picking up stitches mid under sleeve, there will be a small hole in the transition between stitches on body and sleeves. The holes can be closed by picking up the strand between two stitches - work this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve to close the hole. BUTTONHOLES: Decrease for buttonholes on right band (when garment is worn). Decrease from right side when 6 stitches remain on row as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Make 1 yarn over, knit 2 together, knit 2, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work band as before and knit yarn over to make a buttonhole. Decrease for first buttonhole on first row from right side after neck edge has been worked. Then decrease the next 5-5-6-6-6-7-7 buttonholes, approx. 10-10½-9-9½-9½-8½-8½ cm apart. Adjust so that bottom buttonhole is placed in the transition between cables and rib on body. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of stitch with marker as follows: Work until 2 stitches remain before stitch with marker, purl 2 together, knit 1 (marker is in this stitch), purl 2 together (= 2 stitches decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JACKET - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. Work neck edge and yoke back and forth on circular needle from mid front, work top down. When yoke is done, divide piece for body and sleeves. Work body downwards back and forth on circular needle while putting the sleeves aside. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. Fold the neck edge double against the wrong side and fasten. If 0 is given for the chosen size, it means that you skip the information until next information. NECK EDGE: Cast on 100-104-108-112-116-120-124 stitches on circular needle size 3.5 mm with DROPS Alaska or DROPS Nepal. Purl 1 row from wrong side. Work next row from right side as follows: Work 1 stitch in GARTER STITCH - read explanation above, work rib (knit 2/purl 2), until 3 stitches remain, knit 2 and 1 stitch in garter stitch. Continue rib like this until neck edge measures 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm (= approx. height of neck edge when it is folded double). At the end of each of the next 2 rows cast on 6 stitches for band = 112-116-120-124-128-132-136 stitches on needle, work band stitches as BAND WITH I-CORD - read explanation above. Work until neck edge measures 9-9-9-9-11-11-11 cm, finish with a row from wrong side. Insert 1 marker on the inside of band in one side of piece, measure piece from this marker. Work 2 ridges (continue bands as before) on last row in ridges (= from wrong side), increase 22-18-14-42-38-34-30 stitches evenly (do not increase over bands) = 134-134-134-166-166-166-166 stitches. YOKE: Work on circular needle size 5 mm, from the right side: FRONT PIECE (= 29-29-29-33-33-33-33 stitches): Work band as before (= 7 stitches band), work A.1 (= 16 stitches), A.2 (= 4-4-4-8-8-8-8 stitches), knit 2 (= raglan stitches). SLEEVE (= 16-16-16-24-24-24-24 stitches): Work A.3 (= 4-4-4-8-8-8-8 stitches), A.4 (= 8 stitches), A.5 (= 4-4-4-8-8-8-8 stitches) BACK PIECE = 44-44-44-52-52-52-52 stitches): Knit 2 (= raglan stitches), work A.6 (= 4-4-4-8-8-8-8 stitches), A.4 over the next 32 stitches, A.7 (= 4-4-4-8-8-8-8 stitches), knit 2 (= raglan stitches). SLEEVE (= 16-16-16-24-24-24-24 stitches): Work A.3 (= 4-4-4-8-8-8-8 stitches), A.4 (= 8 stitches), A.5 (= 4-4-4-8-8-8-8 stitches). FRONT PIECE (= 29-29-29-33-33-33-33 stitches): Knit 2 (= raglan stitches), work A.8 (= 4-4-4-8-8-8-8 stitches), A.9 (= 16 stitches), work band as before (= 7 stitches). Continue back and forth like this and increase as shown in diagrams. When A.3 and A.5 have been worked 1 time vertically, there are 378-378-378-378-378-378-378 stitches on needle, 61-61-61-61-61-61-61 stitches on each front piece, 74-74-74-74-74-74-74 stitches on each sleeve and 108-108-108-108-108-108-108 stitches on back piece. Do not work this section in size XS; continue to ALL SIZES. SIZE S-M-L-XL-XXL-XXXL: Continue the established pattern and continue increases for raglan every other row (= 8 stitches increased per increase row) 0-2-5-5-6-7-7 more times (i.e. until star in A.2, A.6, A.7 and A.8). On sleeves work the increased stitches in double moss stitch (A.10, make sure that A.10 fits over stitches worked in established pattern). There are now 378-394-418-418-426-434-434 stitches on needle, 61-63-66-66-67-68-68 stitches on each front piece, 74-78-84-84-86-88-88 stitches on each sleeve and 108-112-118-118-120-122-122 stitches on back piece. ALL SIZES: Increases on sleeves are now done. Continue in established pattern and continue increase but now only increase on front pieces and back piece. Increase every other row (= 4 stitches increased per increase row) 3-3-2-5-7-10-14 times. Work the increased stitches in double moss stitch. There are now 390-406-426-438-454-474-490 stitches on needle, 64-66-68-71-74-78-82 stitches on each front piece, 74-78-84-84-86-88-88 stitches on each sleeve and 114-118-122-128-134-142-150 stitches on back piece. Continue with pattern and bands as before without increase until piece measures 20-21-23-25-28-32-36 cm from marker mid front. Now divide yoke for body and sleeves. DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: AT THE SAME TIME as next row is worked divide yoke for body and sleeves at raglan stitches as follows: Work 64-66-68-71-74-78-82 stitches as before (= to and with the 2 raglan stitches), slip the next 74-78-84-84-86-88-88 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 5-7-9-11-13-15-17 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve), work 114-118-122-128-134-142-150 stitches as before (= back piece), slip the next 74-78-84-84-86-88-88 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 5-7-9-11-13-15-17 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve), and work the last 64-66-68-71-74-78-82 stitches as before (= front piece). Finish body and sleeves separately. BODY: = 252-264-276-292-308-328-348 stitches. Work bands and established pattern, work the new stitches in each side in double moss stitch. Work until piece measures 51-53-55-56-57-59-61 cm from marker mid front. On next row from right side begin rib while AT THE SAME TIME decreasing 44-40-40-40-36-32-32 stitches evenly = 208-224-236-252-272-296-316 stitches, work as follows: Switch to circular needle size 4 mm, work band as before, work rib (= knit 2/purl 2 - remember decrease) until 9 stitches remain, knit 2 and band as before. When rib measures 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm, cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Jacket measures 55-57-59-60-62-64-66 cm from marker mid front and approx. 60-62-64-66-68-70-72 cm from the top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Slip 74-78-84-84-86-88-88 sleeve stitches from one thread on to circular needle size 5 mm and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 5-7-9-11-13-15-17 stitches cast on under sleeve– read SLEEVE TIP = 79-85-93-95-99-103-105 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 5-7-9-11-13-15-17 new stitches under sleeve - round begins in this stitch and this stitch is always worked in stocking stitch. Work in the round with pattern as before on needle, work the new stitches on each side of stitch mid under sleeve in double moss stitch (A.10) - AT THE SAME TIME when sleeve measures 3 cm from division, decrease mid under sleeve - read DECREASE TIP and decrease as follows: Decrease 2 stitches every 10-8-5-5-4-3½-3 cm 3-5-8-8-9-10-10 times in total = 73-75-77-79-81-83-85 stitches. Work until sleeve measures 47-47-45-45-40-38-34 cm from division. Work next round as follows: Switch to double pointed needles size 4 mm and work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) while AT THE , SAME TIME decreasing 17-15-17-15-17-15-17 stitches evenly on first round = 56-60-60-64-64-68-68 stitches. Continue rib in the round like this until rib measures 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm – cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Sleeve measures approx. 51-51-49-49-45-43-39 cm from division. ASSEMBLY: Fold rib at the top of neck down on inside of garment. Fasten rib to get a double neck edge. Sew opening towards mid front together on bands with neat little stitches. Sew buttons on to left front piece. |
