Hi, just a short question - after knitting the first eight centimetres of the pattern and turning the piece, do I continue with the pattern A1 with needles 4.0 or do I go straight to stocking stitch with needles 4,5? Thanks in advance. Christine

Dear Mrs Weidgang , continue with larger needle and stocking stitch just after you have turned the piece. Happy knitting!

Buon lavoro!

Knitted hat/ hipster hat for men with texture in DROPS Nepal.

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagram A.1. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch before each marker as follows: Work until there are 2 stitches left before the marker, knit 2 together (= 1 stitch decreased). Repeat at each of the remaining markers = 6 stitches decreased on the round. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- HAT – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round with circular needle, bottom up. Change to double pointed needles when necessary as you decrease towards the top. HAT: Cast on 88-92-96 stitches with circular needles size 4 mm = US 6 and Nepal. Knit 1 round then work A.1 in the round. When the piece measures 8 cm = 3⅛" turn the piece so you have the wrong side out and continue in the round in the opposite direction. Change to circular needle size 4.5 mm = US 7. Now work stockinette stitch in the round. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! When the piece measures 20-22-24 cm = 8"-8¾"-9½" from the cast-on edge insert 6 markers in the piece as follows: Insert one marker at the beginning of the round, the next marker after 14-16-16 stitches, then the remaining 4 markers with 15-15-16 stitches between each one; there are 14-16-16 stitches left on the round after the last marker. Continue with stockinette stitch; at the same time on the first round start to decrease – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 2nd round a total of 11 times = 22-26-30 stitches. Work 1 round where all stitches are knitted together 2 and 2 = 11-13-15 stitches. Cut the strand, pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. The hat measures approx. 30-32-34 cm = 11¾"-12½"-13⅜". Fold the bottom edge up approx. 6-7 cm = 2⅜"-2¾". So the edge stays in place dampen the piece along the fold. The hat measures approx. 23-25-27 cm = 9"-9¾"-10⅝" with the 6-7 cm = 2⅜"-2¾" turn-up. |
