I'm confused!!! I printed the pattern off a month ago it showed me sc, but when I look at the pattern on-line, it shows dc. What is the correct one to use??

Dear Debbie, could it bethat earlier you looked at the American site (which says sc), and now you are looking at the British site (which says dc)? Both are the same stitch with different names, teh stitch which you do withouth yarn over. I hope this helps. Happy crochet!

The picture of the hat appears to have an interesting texture crocheted into it just above the brim, yet the instructions don't reflect this. Am I imagining things?
30.11.2013 - 05:51DROPS Design answered:
Dear Paula, you will get this texture working this part : 2 dc in first dc, * skip 1 dc, 2 dc in following dc *, repeat *-* until piece measures 17-18 cm. Happy crocheting!

Bon crochet !

I've reached the last step and do see some slight curvature to the hat. My only question is, the last step says to do a sc in every sc until the piece measures approximately 10 in. How could a hat fit being only 10 in across from one side of the circle till the other? Or should I measure the height from top to bottom? Thank you!

Crochet gauge: 12 sc in width = 10 cm [4"] Crochet info: In beg of each round substitute first sc with 1 ch. Finish each round with 1 sl st in first ch in beg of round. Hat: Check your crochet gauge! The hat is crocheted from top and down. 1st row: Crochet 2 ch using hook size 5 mm [US H/8] and Snow, crochet 7 sc in the 1st ch from hook, finish with 1 sl st in the 1st sc = 7 sc. Read crochet info! 2nd row: Crochet 2 sc in every sc = 14 sc. 3rd row: Crochet * 1 sc in first sc, 2 sc in following sc *, repeat *-* = 21 sc. 4th row: Crochet * 1 sc in each of the first 2 sc, 2 sc in following sc *, repeat *-* = 28 sc. 5th row: Crochet * 1 sc in each of the first 3 sc, 2 sc in following sc *, repeat *-* = 35 sc. Continue to inc like this (i.e. 1 sc more between every inc) until you have 63-70 sc on round (= 9-10 rounds). Continue to crochet 1 sc in every sc until piece measures 12-13 cm [4¾" – 5⅛"] – on last round inc 1-0 sc = 64-70 sc. Now continue like this: 2 sc in first sc, * skip 1 sc, 2 sc in following sc *, repeat *-*. Repeat this round until piece measures 17-18 cm [6¾" – 7"]. Then crochet 1 round like this: *1 sc in first sc, 2 sc in following sc *, repeat *-* = 96-105 sc. Crochet 1 sc in every sc until piece measures 25-26 cm [9¾" – 10 ¼"]. Cut and fasten the thread. |
