7 masker x 14 ganger = 98 masker.

Dear Karen, you are welcome to adjust the number of increases on row 1 and 2 to fit how you want the brim to look. Happy crocheting!

I am sorry to sound ignorant, but I am a beginner at crochet. I have a question. After round 12 when an increase from 96 db crochets to 98 sc are instructed, is this a one time increase at the beginning of the round? In other words, after the first increase do you then continue with single stitches the rest of the round? Thankyou.
27.04.2014 - 23:31DROPS Design answered:
Dear Maria, after round 12, work 1 round sc increasing 2 sc = 98 sc (round 13). Work then 1 round dc (round 14), then 1 round sc (round 15), and continue following round 16 as stated. Happy crocheting!

I am making this hat for the 4th & 5th time, but now remember there was an issue with the count after finishing the increases, to where you are to work an increase of 2 sc's. Rnd 16 will not come out even as you are using 1 st to go into then skipping 2, so the total needs to be dividible by 3 and 98 does not work out properly.
09.04.2012 - 22:28DROPS Design answered:
You have 98 sts after last inc. Round 16 has a pattern repeat that goes over 7 sts. You repeat this repeat a total of 14 times. On last repeat after 3 ch, skip 2 sc, you finish round with 1 sl st in first sc. That should be correct.

Crochet tip: First dc on round with dc is substituted by 3 ch and first sc on round with sc is substituted by 1 ch. Complete each round with 1 sl st in first st of round. Hat: Crochet 5 ch on crochet hook size 3.5 mm [US E/4] and create 1 ring with 1 sl st in first ch. 1st round: Crochet 8 sc around ring – read Crochet tip. 2nd round: Crochet 2 dc in each sc = 16 dc. 3rd round: *1 sc in first dc, 2 sc in next dc* repeat from *-* = 24 sc. 4th round: *1 dc in each of 2 first sc, 2 dc in in next sc* repeat from *-* = 32 dc. 5th round: *1 sc in each of 3 first dc, 2 sc in next dc* repeat from *-* = 40 sc. Continue crocheting in the same way on every other round dc and sc, at the same time inc so there is 1 st more between each time inc is done on each round until there is 96 dc on round (= 12 rounds in total). Piece measures approx 10 cm [4"] from middle. Now crochet 1 round sc at the same time inc 2 sc evenly = 98 sc. Then crochet 1 round dc and 1 round sc. Piece measures approx 12 cm [4¾"] from middle. 16th round: *1 sc in sc, 3 ch, skip 2 sc, 1 dc in each of next 2 sc, 3 ch, skip 2 sc *, repeat from *-* until end of round and finish off with 1 sl st in first sc. 17th round: 3 ch (substitutes 1st dc), *3 ch, 1 sc mid between 2 dc, 3 ch, 1 dc before sc and 1 dc after sc *, repeat from *-*, finish off with 3 ch, 1 sc mid between 2 last sts, 3 ch, 1 dc before last sc, 1 sl st in 3rd ch at start of round. 18th round: *1 sc between 2 first dc, 3 ch, 1 dc before and 1 dc after next sc, 3 ch *, repeat from *-* and finish round with 1 sl st. Repeat round 17 and 18 until piece measures 18 cm [7"]. Crochet next round as follows: 3 sc in each ch loop and 1 sc between 2 dc, throughout round = 98 sc. Crochet 4 rounds with 1 sc in each sts. On last round inc 2 sc evenly = 100 sc. Now crochet 2 rounds dc as follows: 1st round: *1 dc in each of 3 first sc, 2 dc in next sc* repeat from *-* = 125 dc. 2nd round: *1 dc in each of 4 first dc, 2 dc in in next dc* repeat from *-* = 150 dc. Crochet next round as follows: *1 sc in each of 5 first dc, 5 ch, skip 1 dc*, repeat from *-* and finish round with 1 sl st. |
