Hej.

Rib: *K3, P3*, repeat from *-*. Pattern: See diagram M.1. The diagram shows all the rows in the pattern seen from the right side, and is repeated until finished measurements. MITTENS: The 3 bigger sizes have thumbs, the 2 smaller sizes are without. The mitten is worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 28-28-28 (32-32) sts with 2 strands of Alpaca on needles size 4 mm / US 6 and work 4 rounds stockinette sts, at the same adjusting number of sts evenly on last round to 24-24-24 (30-30). Work 3-3-3 (4-4) cm / 1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛" (1½"-1½") in Rib and then K 1 round whilst inc evenly to 30-32-32 (36-36) sts. Measure piece from here from now on! Read all of the following section before knitting it: Work next round as follows: 1-2-2 (4-4) sts in stockinette sts, diagram M.1 (= 16 sts), 13-14-14 (16-16) sts in stockinette sts. The 3 bigger sizes: After 1 (2-3) cm / ⅜" (3/4"-1⅛") in pattern, put the last 4 (4-5) sts round on a holder for thumb. Cast on 4 (4-5) new sts over the holder on next row. All sizes: When piece measures 7-8-9 (10-11) cm / 2¾"-3⅛"-3½" (4"-4⅜") – stop after 1 round after a cable – work 1 round in pattern, at the same time dec 2 sts evenly for size 6/9 and 12/18 months = 30-30-30 (36-36) sts. Work next round as follows: *K1, K2 tog*, repeat from *-*. On next round K2 tog around = 10-10-10 (12-12) sts. Bind off remaining sts. Put mitten flat and sew seam at top with neat sts. Thumb: Put the 4 (4-5) sts from holder back on a double pointed needle size 4 mm / US 6 and pick up 6 (6-7) sts behind these = 10 (10-12) sts. Work stockinette sts in the round until thumb measures 3 (4-5) cm / 1" (1½"-2"). Now K2 tog around. Cut and pull yarn through remaining sts and fasten. Make another mitten, but make the thumb the other side (applies to the 3 bigger sizes). String: Cast on 4 sts using Alpaca on needles size 4 mm / US 6 and make a tube as follows: *K1, place yarn in front of piece, slip 1 st as if to purl, place yarn behind piece*, repeat from *-* on all rows until string measures approx 62-67-74 (86 to 96) cm / 24½"-26½"-29" (34" to 37¾") (length between child’s wrists). Bind off and attach string to each mitten. |
