Hello, I am trying to make this with Cotton Light which is the same weight. I am using size 4.0 mm hook but my 4.5 chain space measures 5 inches which is 12.7 cm. Even tried 3.75 mm hook and it is still over 10 cm. I don’t know what I am doing wrong
15.08.2018 - 14:58DROPS Design answered:
Dear Yumi, since every crocheter has her own tension, you can try again with a larger hook (hook size is only a suggestion), you may try again with a larger hook until you get the 10 cm/4" for 4,5 ch-spaces. Happy crocheting!

I'm not understanding the diagram for the tank top armholes. I'm sorry. Is there a tutorial? Can someone please help me?
25.06.2018 - 19:29DROPS Design answered:
Dear Jennifer, to decrease for the armholes, follow diagram appropriate to your size (see 1.A, 1.B, 1.C and/or 1.D) at the end of each row . Should you need any help to read diagram, you are welcome to contact the store where you bought your yarn, even per mail or telephone. Happy crocheting!

25.06.2018 - 07:56DROPS Design answered:
Dear Jennifer, you will crochet as shown in diagram 1B in size S and M, then as shown in diagram AC in size L-XL and after 2 dec as in size S-M you will dec as in diagram 1D in size XXL. Finish each row as shown in diagram (on the left side of diagram) so that you will decrease on each side as shown in diagram. Happy crocheting!

For the armholes, where it says to “Crochet to last ch-loop, turn the work, continue with ch-loops” does this mean I sc down the side of the work, and then go back up and then do the diagram on the side that measures 19 (small) chain loops? Then, how do I repeat all that on the other side? Do I cut the string and move over?
26.04.2018 - 21:24DROPS Design answered:
Dear Kathryn, in size L and XL decrease a total of 3 ch-loops on each side as shown in diagram 1.C (repeat 1.C on each side). Happy crocheting!

For the top, after the initial 15 cm, it says to inc 1 loop at each end. Is this for 2 rows only or until my work reaches the armhole? The armhole instructions start with "when the piece measures" so I wasn't sure if I was to continue increasing until this point.
15.09.2017 - 18:21DROPS Design answered:
Dear Trací, you should only increase the one ch-space on each side once. (Otherwise the pattern would say, repeat the increase so and so- but here no mention of more increases). I hope this helps. Happy Crocheting- this is such a fun top!

This pattern says it's for beginners, but there is quite a bit to it that I can't understand. I love this top & have read the pattern repeatedly, but when it gets to the armhole part I'm lost. Is it possible to simplify the wording & also have a video tutorial? I really want to make this. It's super cute.
22.04.2017 - 15:03DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Castle, to dec 1 ch-space at the end of row, see diagrams 1A, 1B, 1C or 1D- depending on your size. Remember your DROPS store will also help you for any further personnal assistance, even per mail or telephone. Happy crocheting!

I have been crocheting for years and am having a terrible time understanding "bind off for the neck as follows": It says "4 ch-loops" What about the four chain loops?
18.01.2017 - 23:26DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Webb, for the neck on right front piece (cardigan), work diagr 1D 1 time and diagr 1A 1 time over the first ch-loops towards neck. 5 ch-loops have been now decreeased. 4 ch-loops remain for shoulder in 1st and 2nd size. Happy crocheting!

Armhole: When the piece measures 33-34-35-36-37 cm bind off for armhole as follows: Size S + M: Crochet until last ch-loop, turn the work, sl st to center of 1st ch-loop, continue with ch-loops and repeat bind off at the other side – see diagr 1B. When the piece measures 30-31-32-33-34 cm bind off for armhole at side as on back = 9-9-10-10-10 ch-loops. When the piece measures 34-36-38-40-42 cm bind off for the neck as follows: Follow armhole bind off on diagr 1D 1 time and diagr 1A 1 time. You have now bound off 5 loops and 4-4-5-5-5 loops remain on shoulder. Continue until the piece measures 48-50-52-54-56 cm, cut yarn. Left front: Crochet the same as the right, reversing shaping. Sleeve: Ch 67-73-73-79-85, then crochet as on Body = 11-12-12-13-14 ch-loops. When the piece measures 6 cm inc by crocheting 1 extra ch-loop in the next to outermost loop at one side, then crochet 5 rows and inc on the other side. Repeat inc at each side 1 time with 5 rows between each inc = 15-16-16-17-18 ch-loops on row. Continue until the piece measures 34-33-31-31-30 cm. Now bind off for sleeve cap by crocheting 6-8-10-10-12 rows with 1 ch-loop less at the end of every row, cut yarn. The piece measures approx. 40-41-41-41-42 cm. Assembly: Crochet together the shoulders as follows: 1 sl st in first ch-loop on back, ch 3, 1 sc in first ch-loop on front, * ch 3, 1 sc in the next ch-loop on back, ch 3, 1 sc in the next ch-loop on front *, repeat * - *. Crochet the sleeve and side seams in the same manner. Then crochet in the sleeves in the same manner. Neckband: Crochet 2 rows sc around the neck – crochet approx. 3 sc in each ch-loop – be sure that the edge is neither too tight nor too loose. Left button band: Crochet 4 rows sc over all sts along left front (incl. over neckband) – crochet approx. 3 sc in each ch-loop = approx. 102-126 sc, turn each row with ch 1. Right button band: Crochet the same as the left, but after the 2nd row make 5 buttonhole evenly spaced along buttonband. The bottom buttonhole should be approx. 10 cm from lower edge and the top one 2 sts from top edge.1 buttonhole = ch 2, skip over 2 sc, 1 sc in the next st. On the next row 2 sc in the ch 2 from previous row. Sew on buttons. |
