---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.6. INCREASE TIP (applies to mid under sleeves): Work until 2 stitches remain before marker thread, make 1 yarn over, knit 4 (marker thread is in the middle of these 4 stitches), make 1 yarn over. On next round knit yarns over twisted to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stockinette stitch. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- SWEATER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Work from bottom up. Work the body in the round on circular needle. Work sleeves in the round on double pointed needles. Put body and sleeves together for yoke and decrease for neck edge. Work the collar together with stitches from neck edge. BODY: Cast on 168-176-194-212-238-258 stitches on circular needle size 4 MM = US 6 with DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk. Work in stockinette stitch in the round. When piece measures 4 cm = 1½", work a folding edge as follows: * Knit 2 together, 1 yarn over *, work from *-* over all stitches. Work in stockinette stitch in the round. When piece measures 4 cm = 1½" from folding edge, switch to circular needle size 5.5 MM = US 9 and continue piece in stockinette stitch. On first round decrease 28-28-30-32-38-42 stitches evenly = 140-148-164-180-200-216 stitches. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! When piece measures 27-27-28-28-28-28 cm = 10⅝"-10⅝"-11"-11"-11"-11" from folding edge, bind off stitches for armholes in each side as follows: Work 31-33-37-41-46-50 stitches in stockinette stitch, bind off the next 8 stitches, 62-66-74-82-92-100 stitches in stockinette stitch, bind off the next 8 stitches, 31-33-37-41-46-50 stitches in stockinette stitch. Put piece aside and work the sleeves as follows: SLEEVES: Cast on 48-50-52-52-56-58 stitches on double pointed needles size 4 MM = US 6 with DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk. Work in stockinette stitch in the round. When piece measures 4 cm = 1½", work a folding edge as follows: * Knit 2 together, 1 yarn over *, work from *-* over all stitches. Then continue piece in stockinette stitch. When piece measures 4 cm = 1½" from folding edge, switch to double pointed needles size 5.5 MM = US 9. On first round decrease 8-8-8-8-10-10 stitches evenly = 40-42-44-44-46-48 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread at the beginning of round, increase on each side of this marker thread later. When sleeve measures 12-12-10-10-8-10 cm = 4¾"-4¾"-4"-4"-3⅛"-4" from folding edge, increase 1 stitch on each side of marker thread - read INCREASE TIP. Increase like this every 4-3½-3-2-2-1½ cm = 1½"-1¼"-1⅛"-¾"-¾"-½" 7-8-10-13-14-14 times in total = 54-58-64-70-74-76 stitches. When sleeve measures 41-39-39-37-36-34 cm = 16⅛"-15¼"-15¼"-14½"-14¼"-13⅜" from folding edge, bind off 4 stitches on each side of marker thread (8 stitches bind off under sleeve) = 46-50-56-62-66-68 stitches. Cut the yarn. Knit another sleeve the same way. YOKE: Slip sleeves on to same circular needle size 5.5 MM = US 9 as body, where armholes were bind off = 216-232-260-288-316-336 stitches. Now measure the piece from here. Work in stockinette stitch in the round. When piece measures 3 cm = 1⅛", knit 1 round while at the same time decreasing 6-2-0-18-26-26 stitches evenly = 210-230-260-270-290-310 stitches. Work A.1 over all stitches. When A.1 has been worked 1 time vertically, there are 168-184-208-216-232-248 stitches on needle. Work in stockinette stitch. When piece measures 9-11-11-12-13-14 cm = 3½"-4⅜"-4⅜"-4¾"-5⅛"-5½", work A.2 over all stitches. When A.2 has been worked 1 time vertically, there are 126-138-156-162-174-186 stitches on needle. Work in stockinette stitch. When piece measures 16-18-19-20-22-24 cm = 6¼"-7"-7½"-8"-8¾"-9½", work A.3 over all stitches. When A.3 has been worked 1 time vertically, there are 84-92-104-108-116-124 stitches on needle. When piece measures 18-20-21-23-25-27 cm = 7"-8"-8¼"-9"-9¾"-10⅝", knit 1 round and decrease 0-6-14-16-20-24 stitches evenly = 84-86-90-92-96-100 stitches. Work until piece measures 19-21-22-24-26-28 cm = 7½"-8¼"-8¾"-9½"-10¼"-11". Put piece aside and work the collar as follows: COLLAR: Collar is worked in the round on circular needle. Cast on 252-264-300-324-360-384 stitches on circular needle size 5.5 MM = US 9 with DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk. Work A.4 over all stitches. When A.4 has been worked 1 time vertically, work A.5 over all stitches. Work A.5 a total of 2-2-2-2-3-3 times vertically. When A.5 is done the last time, knit 1 stitch to displace the beginning of the round with 1 stitch (this way A.6 is centered over A.5). Work A.6 over all stitches. When A.6 has been worked 1 time vertically, there are 84-88-100-108-120-128 stitches on needle. Knit 1 round and decrease 0-2-10-16-24-28 stitches evenly = 84-86-90-92-96-100 stitches. Work in stockinette stitch in the round until collar measures 27-27-30-30-37-37 cm = 33"-33⅞"-35½"-36¼"-37¾"-39⅜". Now work collar together with stitches in the neck as follows: Work first stitch from collar together with next stitch from yoke, * knit first stitch from collar together with next stitch from yoke *, work from *-* until all stitches have been knitted together. Bind off. ASSEMBLY: Sew the opening under the sleeves. Thread a thin elastic under the collar in last round on yoke, before collar and yoke were worked together. This is done so that the collar keeps it shape and does not widen with use. Fold the folding edges at the bottom of sleeves and body to the wrong side and sew them on; making sure that the seam does not tighten edge. |
