I want to try it as my first project, but I don't get the 3 strands thing. Do I have to use the 3 strands together to make a big strand? If so, can I use a single strand of an E or F yarn? Thank you!
15.11.2020 - 08:42DROPS Design answered:
Hi Costanza, The 3 strands give the mix of colours you see on the photo, but it is absolutely possible to use a thicker yarn instead. You will then need to do a swatch of 10 x 10 cm to see how many stitches and rows you get and adjust the pattern accordingly. Happy knitting!

Liebes DROPS-Team, was heißt bitte "Maedhros"? Ist das norwegisch?

Liebe Frau Mitteregger, der Name war einen Vorschlag - Maedhros ist eine fiktive Figur in J. R. R. Tolkiens Legendarium.

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (back and forth): Knit all rows. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SCARF - SHORT SUMMARY OF PIECE: Work piece back and forth on needles with 3 strands. SCARF: Cast on 43 stitches on needle size 10 mm = US 15 with 1 strand in each color(= 3 strands). Work in GARTER STITCH - read explanation above. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! Work until piece measures approx. 180 cm = 71". Bind off by knitting. FRINGES: Fasten 14 fringes in each end of scarf - fasten first fringe in first stitch and fasten last fringe in last stitch, fasten the remaining fringes evenly between these (approx. every 3rd stitch). Make each fringe in each color and fasten them in this color order: beige, pale rust, rust, rust. Make the fringes as follows: Cut 8 strands (approx. 40 cm = 15¾" long) in same color. Place the strands double to form a loop in the end, thread loop through edge stitch along bind-off edge. Pull yarn ends through loops and tighten. Fasten fringes the same way in both ends of scarf. |
