A.2 (= 24 M.), 3 x A.3 (= 3 x 16 M = 48 M.), A.4 (= 25 M) = 24+48+25= 97 M. Viel Spaß beim stricken!

Oh, never mind my last question! I see now a tiny circle between the stitches that I completely missed! It’s after the first and before the last stitches that the YO is worked.

Yes, I understand the yarn over between the stitches, but I don’t understand how you can hav YO at the very beginning and at the very end of the row to then knit them on the next row. And so in each row, not in every second row! I’m an experienced knitter, but I really don’t get this one. I tried everything! Thank you!
04.10.2018 - 03:04DROPS Design answered:
Hi again, Stela, There are no yarn overs at the end of the rows. They are between the edge stitch and the next stitch on both sides. Hope this clarifies things for you and happy knitting!

I don't understand how the side increases in each row are made. Where does the stich to be knit come from?
03.10.2018 - 06:13DROPS Design answered:
Hi Stela, Whenever you see a circle symbol (either filled in or open) you make a yarn over, which gives you the increased stitch. So, for example in A.1 first row, there are 2 yarn overs which are worked twisted on the next row to avoid holes. I hope this helps and happy knitting!

Grazie e buone feste, Oriana

INFORMATION FOR PATTERN: GARTER STITCH (back and forth): 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: Shawl: See diagrams A.1 to A.4. Wrist warmers: See diagram A.5. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. Choose diagram for your size. ---------------------------------------------------------- SHAWL: Work back and forth on circular needle from tip mid front and up towards neck. Cast on 3 stitches on circular needle size 8 mm / US 11 with Air. Purl 1 row from wrong side. Work A.1 - read PATTERN above. When A.1 has been worked, there are 33 stitches on row. REMEMBER THE GAUGE! Then work pattern as follows: Work A.2 (= 8 stitches), work A.3 (= 16 stitches), work A.4 (= 9 stitches). When entire diagrams A.2 to A.4 have been worked vertically, there are 65 stitches on row. Then work as follows: Work A.2 (= 8 stitches), work A.3 (= 16 stitches) 3 times in total in width, work A.4 (= 9 stitches). When entire diagrams A.2 to A.4 have been worked vertically, there are 97 stitches on row. Then repeat A.2 to A.4 with increases - i.e. every time A.2 to A.4 have been worked vertically, work 2 more repetitions of A.3 in width. Continue like this until piece measures 44 cm / 17¼" in the middle. Work 2 ridges in GARTER STITCH - see explanation above, bind off with yarn overs - i.e. make 1 yarn over after every 5th stitch (bind off yarn over as stitch). ---------------------------------------------------------- WRIST WARMER: Work piece back and forth on needle. Cast on 30-34 stitches (including 1 edge stitch in each side) on needle size 5 mm / US 8 with Air. Work 2 ridges in GARTER STITCH - see explanation above. Then work pattern as follows: Work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, work A.5 (= 14-16 stitches) 2 times in total in width - read PATTERN above, work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. REMEMBER THE GAUGE! Continue until piece measures 21-22 cm / 8¼"-8¾". Work 2 ridges. Bind off with double yarn. Sew together inside 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Knit another wrist warmer the same way. |
