I’m making the Granny Rose slippers, size 7-1/2. When decreasing the toe, I cannot evenly decrease 6x, the 38 stitches I begin with. On the first decrease row, I can only decrease as follows: dec, sc4, dec, sc3, dec, sc4, dec, sc3, etc. in order to get 32 as final stitches....can you help me figure it out? In other words, I cannot figure out how to decrease 38 stitches, 6x evenly, to get 32

Dear Mrs Dalum, you will find here how to decrease evenly. Happy crocheting!

Granny rose slippers...."heel part".... a bit lost, in the increasing, am I increasing on each side of the row at end? 2 sc.? Also am I chaining 1 after each row. Also total of 6 times? If you could explain a little bit better for me, that would be great.
13.12.2018 - 16:07DROPS Design answered:
Dear Teresa, you will increase at the end of each of next 6 rows = you will have increased 3 sts on each side. Happy crocheting!

Hi, tks for your replies ! Love crochetting these slippers! One final question ---- to start heel piece, I have my Right side facing me so ... I start my First 1sc of the outmost 3 dc which would be the 3 last dc to my left before corner ! Is that correct ???? Tks again !!
27.01.2018 - 01:20DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Dot, yes correct, you are starting in the last 3 dc along the last side that has not been worked yet, and you will finish this row in the first 3 dc after corner on the other side. Happy crocheting!

Thank you for such prompt reply! I want to make sure I understand when I start 1st row uner piece/sole ... i insert my hook in the corner SPACE and not in the chain 3 ???
25.01.2018 - 15:00DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Dot, you start with a sc in the corner (= around the 3-ch-space) and work the last sc on row in the next corner (= around the next 3-ch-space). Happy crocheting!

25.01.2018 - 03:36DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Dot, under piece is worked along one side of the square, ie start in one corner of the square (= 3-ch-space) to the next corner (= 3-ch-space). Happy crocheting!

Hi, I am having trouble understanding how to do the Heel Piece on your Granny Rose Drops Design. Kind Regards Penny
26.01.2016 - 12:30DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Webber, after you have worked back and forth and slipper measures 22-24-27 cm (see size), cut the yarn, fold the last row in the middle and sew tog sts from last row. See also this video showing another pattern of slippers but on time code 1:13 you will see how to sew heel tog. Happy crocheting!

DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 sc as follows: Insert hook in first sc and pull yarn through, insert hook in next sc and pull yarn through, make 1 YO and pull yarn through all 3 loops on hook. -------------------------------------------------------- SLIPPER: First work the granny square, then work the rest of the slipper. GRANNY SQUARE: Ch 6 on hook size 4 mm / G/6 with light old pink and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch. Fasten off. UNDER PIECE/SOLE: Work with dark old pink: 1 sc in the corner, then 1 sc in every dc and 1 sc in every ch along the one side of the square, finish with 1 sc in the corner = 17 sc. Then work sc in STRIPES – see explanation above – back and forth over these sts for 5-6-7 cm / 2"-2⅜"-2¾" (turn every row with 1 ch). Fasten off. Repeat in the opposite side of crochet square. Then sew these part tog mid under foot - sew in front loops of last row of sc's to avoid a chunky seam mid under foot. TOE: Work with dark old pink: 1 sc in every st along one side of the square the same way as on under piece (= 17 sc), then work 19-21-23 sc along the stripes on the under side of foot = 36-38-40 sc in total. Then work STRIPES and sc in the round a total of 5-6-7 rounds (beg every round with 1 ch and finish every round with 1 sl st in first ch). Then work 5 rounds while dec 6 sts evenly on every round - READ DECREASE TIP = 6-8-10 sc. Cut the yarn, baste it up and down around the tip, pull the yarn to tighten and fasten tightly. HEEL PIECE: Work with dark old pink: First 1 sc in each of the outermost 3 dc along the last side of square, and 1 sc in ch-space in the corner, then crochet 20-22-24 sc along the stripes on the under side of foot, then work 1 sc in the corner on the square and 1 sc in each of the first 3 dc = 28-30-32 sc. Work STRIPES and sc back and forth - AT THE SAME TIME on 3rd row inc 1 sc at the end of row by working 2 sc in last sc. Repeat inc at the end of every row a total of 6 times (i.e. 3 times in each side) = 34-36-38 sc. Continue with sc until the entire slipper measures approx. 22-24-27 cm / 8¾"-9½"-10½". Cut the yarn, fold the slipper double and sew tog edge to edge mid back on heel. Then finish by working 1 round sc with dark old pink around the opening on the slipper. |
