Is there a tutorial for the Holiday Road hat? All the A-1, A-2, etc is very confusing. I want to make this for a friend at dialysis. Please help!

Dear Lacy, you can find how to read diagrams here. You will first work as shown in A.1, then work A.2 (= beg of rounds) and repeat A.3 to the end of the round. Then work A.4 (beg of rounds) and repeat A.5 to the end of the round. And so on. Happy crocheting!

Przerabiać tak samo, aż długość kapelusza wynosi 16-18 cm. Tutaj powinno chuba byc 16-18 rzędów, a nie 16-18 cm.

Witaj Moniko, opis poprawny, chodzi o 16-18 cm. Pamiętaj, że opis zawsze możesz dopasować do swoich potrzeb. Jeśli masz w związku z tym jakieś pytania, proszę o kontakt. Pozdrawiamy!

Thanks for the help getting started! I am up to the row past the "row of holes" and I'm unsure what I'm supposed to do. is it 2 dc in each ch 1 space? Are there any dc's into the tc's below? I looked at the photo, and it looks like 2 dc in each ch 1 space but I'm not sure. Then the increases have me a bit puzzled as well. Any assistance would be appreciated. I'm used to working with US diagrams and instructions but I'm always ready to learn!

Dear Mrs Whitely Greaves, correct on 2nd row as well s on 6th row in A.7 you will crochet 2 sc around each chain, ie in the 1-chain-space from previous round. The increases should be worked evenly - use the calculator (see below Pattern at the beginning of the written pattern to let calculate how to increase. Happy crocheting!

I don't understand the first round. Chain 4 then how many double crochets into the ring to start?
17.04.2025 - 19:29DROPS Design answered:
Dear Robin, A.1 is only the chain 4 ring, with 1 slip stitch to join them together. Then you work as follows: 1 chain stitch (A.2), 6 double crochets (A.3 6 times), 1 slip stitch in the 1st chain stitch (A.2 again). The round starts and ends with chain 1, 1 slip stitch in 1st chain stitch, while you will work over each of the double crochets in the round as indicated in the chart. Happy crochetting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.9. Choose diagram for your size (applies to A.1-A.3). INCREASE TIP (evenly spaced): To work out how to increase evenly, count the number of stitches on the round (e.g., 90 stitches) and divide by the number of increases to be made (e.g., 16) = 5.6. In this example, work 2 single crochets alternately in each 5th and 6th single crochet (approx.). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- HAT – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round, top down with single crochets, 2 rows of holes and an edge with fan-pattern. HAT: Use crochet hook 4 MM = US 6 and DROPS Bomull-Lin. Work A.1 (= chain-stitch ring). Then work as follows: A.2 (beginning and end of the round), then A.3 a total of 6 times on the round. Continue this pattern. Remember to maintain the crochet gauge. When A.2 and A.3 are finished, there are 90-96 stitches + 1 chain stitch at the beginning of the round. Continue as follows: Work A.4 (beginning and end of the round), A.5 across the remaining stitches, i.e., work 1 single crochet in each stitch + 1 chain stitch at the beginning of the round. Work until the hat measures 16-18 cm = 6¼"-7". Now work a row of holes as follows: A.6 (beginning and end of the round), A.7 a total of 45-48 times. Continue this pattern. On each round marked with an arrow in A.7 increase as follows – read INCREASE TIP: Arrow-1: Increase 16-16 stitches evenly spaced = 106-112 single crochets. Arrow-2: Increase 6-6 stitches evenly spaced = 112-118 single crochets. Arrow-3: Increase 6-6 stitches evenly spaced = 118-124 single crochets. Arrow-4: Increase 6-8 stitches evenly spaced = 124-132 single crochets. Now work an edge with fan-pattern. EDGE WITH FAN-PATTERN: Work A.8 (beginning and end of the round), A.9 a total of 31-33 times. Cut and fasten the strand. The hat measures approx. 23-25 cm = 9"-9¾" from the top. |
