"Continue as before until the piece measures 85-88-91-94-97-99 cm from top of strap" Hi! Does this mean I have to keep increasing every 5 cm? Thank you!

Dear Ariadna, no increases are done now, just continue working 1 double crochet (UK-English terminology) in each stitch as before without any further increase (keep the 128-140-152-164-184-200 stitches as before) until requested length. Happy crocheting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- CHAIN STITCH: If you work outermost on the hook the chain stitch will often be too tight; 1 chain stitch should be as long as 1 single crochet is wide. CROCHET INFORMATION: When working back and forth, replace the first single crochet with 1 chain stitch. The last single crochet on the row is worked in chain stitch at the beginning of previous row. When working in the round, replace the first single crochet with 1 chain stitch. At end of round, work 1 slip stitch in the chain stitch at beginning of round, turn and work the next round from the wrong side, i.e., alternate rounds from the right and wrong side. MEASURING TIP: All length-measurements are taken when holding the piece up to prevent the garment being too long when worn. 2 SINGLE CROCHETS TOGETHER: Insert the hook through the first stitch, pick up the strand, insert the hook through the next stitch, pick up the strand (3 loops on hook), make 1 yarn over and pull it through all 3 loops (= 1 stitch decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- DRESS – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked top down. First the straps and front piece, back and forth and top down until the armholes are finished. Then the back piece is worked in the same way. The pieces are joined and continued in the round, alternately from the right and wrong side so the textured pattern is maintained. FRONT PIECE: Use hook size 5 MM = US H/8 and DROPS Paris. Read CHAIN STITCH and CROCHET INFORMATION above. Work 9-9-10-10-10-11 chain stitches. Work 1 single crochet in the 2nd chain stitch from the hook (the first chain stitch replaces the first single crochet), work 1 single crochet in each of the remaining 7-7-8-8-8-9 chain stitches = 9-9-10-10-10-11 single crochets. Work back and forth with 1 single crochet in each stitch, until the strap measures 8-8-9-9-9-9 cm = 3⅛"-3⅛"-3½"-3½"-3½"-3½". Cut the strand and lay the strap to one side. Remember to maintain the crochet gauge. Work 1 more strap in the same way but when the strap measures 8-8-9-9-9-9 cm = 3⅛"-3⅛"-3½"-3½"-3½"-3½", turn and work back across the 9-9-10-10-10-11 stitches as before, then work 24-26-26-26-28-28 chain stitches for the neckline and work across the first strap as before (make sure you match the textured pattern on each piece) = 42-44-46-46-48-50 stitches. On the next row, work 1 single crochet in each single crochet and 1 single crochet in each chain stitch = 42-44-46-46-48-50 single crochets. Work back and forth with 1 single crochet in each single crochet until the piece measures 14-14-14-14-13-13 cm = 5½"-5½"-5½"-5½"-5⅛"-5⅛" from top of strap – read MEASURING TIP. Now increase on each side for the armholes as follows: Work 1 chain stitch (replaces the first single crochet), work 2 single crochets in the next stitch, work until there are 2 stitches left, work 2 single crochets in the next stitch, 1 single crochet in the last stitch (= 2 increased stitches). Increase from both the right and wrong side like this a total of 4-5-7-9-12-14 times on each side = 50-54-60-64-72-78 single crochets. The piece measures approx. 16-17-18-19-20-21 cm = 6¼"-6¾"-7"-7½"-8"-8¼" from the top of the strap. Cut the strand and lay the piece to one side. BACK PIECE: Work in the same way as the front piece, finishing on the same row. Cut the strand. BODY: Now join the front and back pieces as follows, working in the round alternately from the right and wrong side to maintain the textured pattern: Work 3-4-4-5-6-7 chain stitches, work 1 single crochet in each stitch across the back piece, 6-8-8-10-12-14 chain stitches (under armhole), work 1 single crochet in each stitch across the front piece, 3-4-4-5-6-7 chain stitches, 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch at the beginning of the round = 112-124-136-148-168-184 stitches. The round begins under the armhole. Turn and work 1 single crochet in each chain stitch/single crochet to end of round – remember CROCHET INFORMATION. Work in the round, alternately from the right and wrong side until the piece measures 25-27-29-28-30-32 cm = 9¾"-10⅝"-11⅜"-11"-11¾"-12½" from top of strap. Insert 1 marker mid-under each armhole. On the next round decrease 1 stitch on each side of both markers as follows: Work the first 3 stitches as before, work 2 SINGLE CROCHETS TOGETHER – read description above, work until there are 5 stitches left before the second marker, work 2 single crochets together, work 6 single crochets (marker sits in the middle of these 6 stitches), work 2 single crochets together, work until there are 5 stitches left on the round, work 2 single crochets together, work the last 3 stitches as before (= 4 decreased stitches). Decrease like this every 4-4-4-5-5-5 cm = 1½"-1½"-1½"-2"-2"-2" a total of 3 times = 100-112-124-136-156-172 single crochets. Continue as before until the piece measures 37-39-41-43-45-47 cm = 14½"-15¼"-16⅛"-17"-17¾"-18½" from top of strap – remember MEASURING TIP. Now increase on each side of both markers as follows on the next round: Work the first 3 stitches as before, work 2 single crochets in the next stitch, work as before until there are 4 stitches left before the second marker, work 2 single crochets in the next stitch, work 6 single crochets (marker sits in the middle of these 6 stitches), work 2 single crochets in the next stitch, work as before until there are 4 stitches left on the round, work 2 single crochets in the next stitch, work the last 3 stitches as before (= 4 increased stitches). Increase like this every 5 cm = 2" a total of 7 times = 128-140-152-164-184-200 single crochets. Continue as before until the piece measures 85-88-91-94-97-99 cm = 33½"-34⅝"-35¾"-37"-38¼"-39" from top of strap; or try the dress on and work to desired length. ASSEMBLY: Sew the straps together (over shoulders). |
