Hello, is this pattern and other Drops crochet or knitting patterns written using UK terms or US? The glossary explains the difference but which terms are used in your patterns please? Thank you.

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- CROCHET INFORMATION: At the beginning of each round of single crochets, work 1 chain stitch which replaces the first single crochet (i.e. skip the first single crochet from the previous round). The round finishes with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch at the beginning of the round. CHAIN STITCH: If you work outermost on the hook the chain stitch will often be too tight; 1 chain stitch should be as long as 1 single crochet is wide. INCREASE TIP: Increase 1 single crochet by working 2 single crochets in the same single crochet. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- HAT - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round, top down. HAT: Work 4 CHAIN STITCHES – read explanation above, with hook size 7 MM = US K or L and DROPS Andes. Form them into a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch. ROUND 1: Read CROCHET INFORMATION, work 6 single crochets around the ring. ROUND 2: Work 2 single crochets in each single crochet = 12 single crochets. ROUND 3: Work * 1 single crochet in the first/next single crochet, 2 single crochets in the next single crochet *, work from *-* to end of round = 18 single crochets. ROUND 4: Work * 1 single crochet in each of the first/next 2 single crochets, 2 single crochets in the next single crochet *, work from *-* to end of round = 24 single crochets. REMEMBER THE CROCHET GAUGE! ROUND 5: Work * 1 single crochet in each of the first/next 3 single crochets, 2 single crochets in the next single crochet *, work from *-* to end of round = 30 single crochets. ROUND 6: Work * 1 single crochet in each of the first/next 4 single crochets, 2 single crochets in the next single crochet *, work from *-* to end of round = 36 single crochets. ROUND 7: Work * 1 single crochet in each of the first/next 5 single crochets, 2 single crochets in the next single crochet *, work from *-* to end of round = 42 single crochets. ROUND 8: Work * 1 single crochet in each of the first/next 6 single crochets, 2 single crochets in the next single crochet *, work from *-* to end of round = 48 single crochets. ROUND 9: Work * 1 single crochet in each single crochet and increase 1-3-5 single crochets evenly on the round - read INCREASE TIP = 49-51-53 single crochets. Then work 1 single crochet in each single crochet until the hat measures 13-14-15 cm = 5⅛"-5½"-6" from the top. Now work 1 single crochet in the back loop of each single crochet for 3 rounds. Work 1 round with 1 single crochet worked normally in each single crochet. Then work 1 round with 1 single crochet in the back loop of each single crochet. The piece measures approx. 16-17-18 cm = 6¼"-6¾"-7" from the top. BRIM: ROUND 1: Work 1 single crochet, then * 2 single crochets in the first/next single crochet, 1 single crochet in the first/next single crochet *, work from *-* to end of round = 73-76-79 single crochets. ROUNDS 2-3: Work 1 single crochet in each single crochet. ROUND 4: Work 1 single crochet in each single crochet and increase 7-9-11 single crochets evenly on the round = 80-85-90 single crochets. Continue with 1 single crochet in each single crochet until the piece measures 22-23-24 cm = 8¾"-9"-9½" from the top. The last round is worked as follows: 1 slip stitch in the back loop of each single crochet. Cut and fasten the strand. |
