European yoke 4/4 – Neck is finished after the stitches for sleeves are knitted up

In this DROPS video, we show you how to increase for the sleeves and for the front and back pieces when working a European yoke while, at the same time, casting on stitches under each sleeve.
When all the increases are finished and the yoke is the correct length, it is divided for the body and sleeves. The body is continued in the round with circular needle, top down, while the sleeves wait.

Work as follows:
ROUND 1: Knit all stitches (we only show the beginning and end of this round).

ROUND 2: Knit until there are 2 stitches left before the first marker, increase towards the right, knit 2, move the marker onto the right needle, increase towards the left, knit across the sleeve-stitches, increase towards the right, move the marker onto the right needle, knit 2, increase towards the left, knit until there are 2 stitches left before the next marker, increase towards the right, knit 2, move the marker onto the right needle, increase towards the left, knit across the sleeve-stitches, increase towards the right, move the marker onto the right needle, knit 2, increase towards the left, knit to end of round (= 1 stitch increased on each side of 2 stitches in each transition between body and sleeves = a total of 8 increased stitches).

Repeat these 2 rounds the stated number of times in your pattern. The piece now measures X cm measured down the middle of the sleeve, from where stitches were knitted up, when the sweater is folded double at the shoulder. The piece measures X cm outermost along the armhole. Work to the first marker (= transition between front piece and left shoulder). Now divide the yoke for the body and sleeves, casting on stitches under both sleeves. Follow your pattern for how many stitches are placed on a thread, how many stitches are cast on and how you continue the body.

INCREASE TIP-1:
INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE LEFT – from right side: Use the left needle to pick up the front strand between 2 stitches from the previous row, knit through the back loop.
INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE RIGHT – from right side: Use the left needle to pick up the back strand between 2 stitches from the previous row, knit through the front loop.

In this DROPS video, we show you how to work the back piece on a garment with a European yoke. The neckline is finished after the stitches for the yoke are knitted up. We show you how to increase stitches for the shoulders. In this DROPS video, we show you how to knit up stitches along the shoulders on the back piece when working a European yoke – the neckline is finished after the stitches for the sleeves are knitted up. The 2 front pieces are worked on either side of the neckline. We show you how to knit up 1 edge stitch + 14 stitches along the back right shoulder, then you continue with stockinette stitch. When the piece measures 7 cm= 2¾" stitches are increased for the neckline, read INCREASE TIP-1 TOWARDS THE RIGHT below. We show 2 increases. At the end of the last row, we decrease the last stitch (the edge stitch). The right shoulder stitches are then placed on a stitch holder. The left front shoulder is knitted up and worked in the same way but in reverse (read description in your pattern). In this DROPS video we show how to work a European yoke and when front and back pieces are work for the desired length, stitches are knitted up for sleeves and all these pieces are worked simultaneously together. At the same time continue to increase for neck and sleeves, then towards the front pieces and the back piece. When the increases for the neck are done, cast on stitches between the front pieces and continue working in the round. Work like this: ROW 1 (right side): From the right side work as follows, starting with the left front piece: Knit 3, increase 1 stitch towards the left (read INCREASE TIP-1 below), knit the remaining stitches on the left front piece, insert 1 marker, knit up 11 stitches along the side of the left front piece, insert 1 marker, knit across the back piece, insert 1 marker, knit up 11 stitches along the side of the right front piece, insert 1 marker, knit across the right front piece until there are 3 stitches left, increase 1 stitch towards the right (read INCREASE TIP-1 below), knit 3. ROW 2 (wrong side): Purl all stitches (we only show the beginning and end of this row). The right and left front pieces are joined when the neckline increases are finished. The front piece is then continued back and forth as far as the armholes. 3 - YOKE: Place the front and back pieces on the same circular needle, joining them together by cast on stitches under each sleeve. The body is continued in the round to the correct measurement.

In this DROPS video we show a brief overview of how to knit a garment with an European yoke, where the neck is finished after the stitches for the sleeves are knitted up. The garment is worked as follows, according to these 5 steps: 1) BACK PIECE: Cast on stitches for the back of the neckline and work the back piece top down, at the same time as increasing each side until you have reached the correct shoulder-width. The back piece has slightly diagonal shoulders. 2) FRONT PIECE: The front piece is worked in 2 pieces (each side of the neck). Start by knitting up stitches along one shoulder on the back piece. Work the front piece top down, at the same time as increasing for the neckline. Repeat for the second front piece along the other back shoulder. 3) YOKE: On the next row, place all stitches on the same circular needle as follows: Work across one front piece, pick up stitches for the sleeve along the side of the front piece, work across the back piece, pick up stitches for the sleeve along the side of the second front piece, work across the second front piece. The yoke is continued back and forth across all stitches, with the rows starting and ending mid-front. 4) INCREASE FOR NECK, BODY AND SLEEVES: While working the yoke, begin by increasing only for the neckline and sleeves, then subsequently for both the body and sleeves. Once the final increase for the neckline is done, the 2 front pieces are joined mid-front and the piece is continued in the round. 5) BODY AND SLEEVES: When all the increases are finished and the yoke has been worked to the correct length, it is divided for the body and sleeves. The body is continued in the round with a circular needle, top down, while the sleeves wait.

In this DROPS video we show how to work raglan on a sweater from the bottom up. There are several ways to work the decreases to raglan, but in this video, we show a simple basic way where it is decrease before and after the markers (4 marker threads are added in the piece between front piece, back piece and sleeves). Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2, marker thread is between these 2 stitches, slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked. Repeat at each of the remaining marker threads (= 8 stitches decreased). On next round knit over all stitches, then work one round where you decrease to raglan again. How often it should decrease, read the pattern you are working after. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video. In this DROPS video we show how to increase for the yoke for a garment with saddle shoulder by increasing 8 stitches on one round. This technique is used in the "Country Muse" sweater in DROPS 216-40 and the "Country Muse Cardigan" jacket in DROPS 216-39. We have already worked a neckline, increases for saddle shoulders and sleeve and start the video by moving sleeve markers to the stitches where increase for the yoke should be. Increase like this: Start before the marker-stitch, use left needle to pick up strand between 2 stitches from the row below, pick up strand from behind and knit stitch in front loop, work marker-stitch in stocking stitch as before, use left needle to pick up strand between 2 stitches from the row below, pick up strand from the front and knit stitch in back loop (= 1 stitch increased on each side of the marker-stitch). The sweater in DROPS 216-40 and the jacket in DROPS 216-39 are worked in DROPS Lima, but in the video we use a thicker yarn; DROPS Snow. In this DROPS video we show how to work a jumper top down in round circular needle. We show how we increase for raglan by doing a YO 2 sts before marker and 2 sts after marker, and on next round K YO twisted to avoid a hole. We have already worked neck (rib) and start the video with the 1st round where we do the increase. Remember that you have to read a pattern in addition to watching the video, a pattern has more information to be made / number between markers / pattern / elevation etc. The pink marking thread is for beg of round.
