Materials: DROPS ALASKA from Garnstudio
100% pure new wool, 50 g/75 m./82 yards
600-650-700 g. col. no. 02, natural.
200-200-250 g. col. no. 49, light brown heather.
50 -100-100 g. col. no. 51, olive heather
50- 50 - 50 g. col. no. 50, dark brown heather.

and use: DROPS ITALIAN VELVET from Garnstudio
100-100-100 g. col. no. 04, grey/brown.
50- 50 - 50 g. col. no. 517, grey

DROPS 3.5 mm [US 4] and 5 mm [US 8] circular and double-pointed needles, or sizes needed to obtain correct gauge.
DROPS 7 mm [US 10½] double-pointed needles (for cuffs in Italian Velvet), or size needed to obtain correct gauge.

Pattern instructions

NOTE: This pattern is written in American English. All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from inches to cm - click here. Gauge: Alaska: 17 sts x 22 rows in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"]

Garter st, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows.
Garter st, when knitting in the round: *Rnd 1, knit. Rnd 2, purl.* Repeat from * - *.

Rib: * K 2, P 2 *, repeat from * - *.

Pattern: See chart (1 chart = 1 repeat). The pattern is seen from the right side.

Body: Cast on 192-204-216 sts on smaller circular needles with natural. Knit rib for 6 cm [2-3/8"]. Change to larger circular needles knit stockinette st over all sts - on the first row, inc 2 sts evenly distributed across the row for Size Small/Medium only = 194-204-216 sts. When the piece measures 40-42-44 cm [15.75" - 16.5" - 17.25"] knit the next row as follows: bind off 3 sts for armhole, 91-96-102 sts for the front, bind off 6 sts for armhole, 91-96-102 sts for the back, bind off 3 sts for armhole. Set aside and knit sleeves.

Sleeve: Cast on 48-48-48 sts on smaller double-pointed needles with light brown heather; join and place a marker at the join. Knit Rib for 8 cm [3 1/8"]. Change to larger double pointed needles and knit 1 row stockinette st, then knit Pattern 2 one time, then continue with natural in stockinette st to finished dimensions. After Pattern 2 inc 1 st each side of marker 12-13-14 times:
Size S/M: every 6 rows,
Size M/L: Alternately every 5th and 6th row
Size Extra Large: every 5 rows
= 72-74-76 sts. When the piece measures 45-45-45 cm [17.75"] bind off 5 sts at marker (2 sts one side of marker, 3 sts other side of marker) = 67-69-71 sts on needles.

Body: Put in the sleeves on the same circular needles as Body where the sts were bound off for armhole = 316-330-346 sts. Knit 1 row with natural, decreasing 1-0-1 sts across row = 315-330-345 sts. Knit Pattern 1, decreasing where shown on the chart. Dec 21-22-23 sts per dec row a total of 10 times = 210-220-230 sts decreased. After last dec 105-110-115 sts remain on needles. Change to smaller double-pointed needles, decreasing 1-2-3 sts evenly distributed on the row = 104-108-112 sts. Knit rib for approx. 12 cm [4.75"] (or desired length), bind off with Italian Velvet on largest needles.

Assembly: Sew the opening at underarm.

Cuff: Knit cuffs in Italian Velvet over the rib at the bottom of the sleeve. Pick up 24 sts in the first stockinette st rows after the rib on larger double-pointed needles with light brown heather Alaska. Change to Italian Velvet and largest needles, knit stockinette st loosely for 10 cm [4"], bind off loosely.
