SHAWL:
Worked back and forth on circular needle, worked sideways and diagonally.

Cast on 3 sts on circular needle size 6 mm / US 10 with 1 strand Baby Merino and 1 strand Kid-Silk (= 2 strands).
ROW 1 (= RS): K 1, 1 YO and K rest of row, turn piece (= 1 st inc).
ROW 2 (= WS): K all sts (K YO twisted - READ KNITTING INFO, turn piece.
ROW 3 (= RS): K 1, 1 YO, K 2 in next st, K 2 tog, turn piece (= 2 sts inc and 1 st dec).
ROW 4 (= WS): K all sts, turn piece.
ROW 5 (= RS): K 1, 1 YO and K rest of row, turn piece (= 1 st inc).
ROW 6 (= WS): K all sts, turn piece.

ROW 12 (= WS): K all sts, turn piece.

Repeat 5th-12th row 3 more times (= 21 sts on row). Insert 1 marker after the first 5 sts on row (= 16 sts after marker seen from RS – dec explained below will now always come before marker so that there will always be 16 sts after marker).

Then work as follows:
ROW 1 (= RS): K 1, 1 YO and K rest of row, turn piece. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE
ROW 2 (= WS): Work FAN - see explanation above - back and forth over sts before marker. When fan is done (after 32 rows in total), K back over all sts – NOTE: To avoid holes in transitions between turns on fan, slip yarn between each of the 16 sts twisted back on needle and K tog with st.
ROW 3 (= RS): K 1, 1 YO, K 1, K 2 in next st, K until 2 sts remain before marker, K 2 tog, K 16, turn piece.
ROW 4 (= WS): K 3, P until 3 sts remain on row, finish with K 3 - remember KNITTING INFO, turn piece.
ROW 5 (= RS): K 1, 1 YO and K rest of row, turn piece.
ROW 6 (= WS): K all sts, turn piece.
ROW 7 (= RS): K 1, 1 YO, K 1, K 2 in next st, K until 2 sts remain before marker, K 2 tog, K 16, turn piece.
ROW 8 (= WS): K all sts, turn piece.
ROW 9 (= RS): K 1, 1 YO and K rest of row, turn piece.
ROW 10 (= WS): K all sts, turn piece.
ROW 11 (= RS): K 1, 1 YO, K 1, K 2 in next st, K until 2 sts remain before marker, K 2 tog, K 16, turn piece.
ROW 12 (= WS): K all sts, turn piece.
ROW 13 (= RS): K 1, 1 YO and K rest of row, turn piece.
ROW 14 (= WS): K all sts, turn piece.
ROW 15 (= RS): K 1, 1 YO, K 1, K 2 in next st, K until 2 sts remain before marker, K 2 tog, K 16, turn piece.
ROW 16 (= WS): K 3, P until 3 sts remain on row, finish with K 3.

Repeat 1st to 16th row back and forth until there are 141 sts on needle (= 15 fans) and loosely bind off - NOTE: It is important that the bind-off edge is loose and elastic. If this is difficult make 1 YO after approx. every 3rd or 4th st while binding off (bind off YO as 1 st).
