DROPS circular needles size 3 mm / US 2.5 and 3.5 mm/US 4 and double pointed needles size 3.5 mm / US 4

Pattern instructions

NOTE: This pattern is written in American English. All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from inches to cm - click here. There are different terms for crocheting in American and British English. If this pattern includes crochet, click for "crochet terms" here. For this pattern in British English, please click here.
Gauge: 23 sts x 30 rows on needle size 3.5 mm/US 4 and stockinette = 10 x 10 cm/ 4" x 4".
Remember needle sizes are guidelines only! See note under size above.

Pattern: * K4, P4 *, repeat from *-*.


Work jacket back and forth on circular needles. Cast on 262 (278-294) sts (includes 2 edge sts) on circular needles size 3.5 mm / US 4 and continue work pattern with 1 edge sts on each side mid front. Remember knitting gauge.
When piece measures 21 (21-22) cm work next row as follows:
64 (68-72) sts front piece, bind off 4 sts for armhole, 126 (134-142) sts back piece, bind off 4 sts for armhole, 64 (68-72) sts front piece.
Complete each piece separately.

Front piece: = 64 (68-72) sts. Continuing bind off for armhole on every other row: 3 sts 1 (1-2) times, 2 sts 2 (2-2) times, 1 st 1 (2-3) times = 56 (59-59) sts.
When piece measures 29 (29-31) cm bind off for neck on every other row: 2 sts 7 times and then on every 4th row: 1 st 4 (5-5) times.
Bind off when piece measures 46 (46-48) cm

Back piece: = 126 (134-142) sts. Continuing bind off for armhole like front piece = 110 (116-116) sts.
When piece measures 44 (44-46) cm bind off middle 30 (32-32) sts to shape neckline. Then bind off 2 sts on each side on next row to shape neckline. Bind off when piece measures 46 (46-48) cm

Sleeve: Cast on 50 (50-50) sts on double pointed needles 3.5 mm/US 4 and continuing work Pattern (ensure to centre K4 sts mid sleeve).
At the same time inc mid under arm: 2 sts 33 (33-35) times alternating on every 3rd and 4th round = 116 (116-120) sts.
When piece measures 44 (44-45) cm bind off 6 sts mid under arm and complete working back and forth on needle. Continuing bind off to shape sleeve cap on every other row: 4 sts 9 times each side, bind off.
Piece measures approx 51 (51-52) cm.

Assembly: Sew shoulder seams.
Pick up approx 84 sts (dividable with 8 sts + 4 sts) along left front piece on circular needle size 3 mm / US 2.5 and work 3 cm / 1’’ Pattern back and forth on needle.
Repeat along right front edge, but work 6 button holes after 1 cm / ½’’ evenly distributed on row - 1 buttonhole = bind off 3 sts and cast on 3 new sts over bound off sts on next row.
Pick up approx 110-120 sts round neckline on circular needle size 3 mm / US 2.5 and K2 rows back and forth on needle, bind off.
Sew in sleeves and buttons.

The actual pattern is not stated in the directions. It looks like knit three, purl two, but I'm not sure. Please state what the pattern is.
