I am even more confused. The beret (hat) pattern is A1, worked from left to right on every row, reading pattern from the bottom, started bottom left? Yes? My knitting does not look like the photo. Those little holes are not in the same place as in the photo.

Dear Hetty, charts worked in the round are worked from right to left, from the bottom up. You can see more information here: https://www.garnstudio.com/lesson.php?id=68&cid=19. Happy knitting!

I’m confused by the 2 by 2 decrease. Am I to knit 2 stitches together?
06.07.2023 - 15:33DROPS Design answered:
Hi Hetty, you have to knit 2 stitches together throughout the whole round (at the end you will have half of stitches). Happy knitting!

Bon tricot!

I really need to knit both pieces. I have nystagmus, an eye issue, makes it extremely difficult for me to use charts. Is there a place to find written out directions? Thank you.

Dear Jody, we only have diagrams to this pattern, you can try to enlarge them with the copying machine so that it will be easier for you to follow them. Happy knitting!

18.02.2019 - 13:21DROPS Design answered:
Bon tricot!

Knitted hat in DROPS Lima. Piece is knitted with lace and textured pattern. Knitted neck warmer in DROPS Lima. Piece is knitted with lace and textured pattern.

EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (worked in the round): 1 ridge = 2 rounds. Knit 1 round and purl 1 round. INCREASE TIP-1 (evenly): To calculate how to increase evenly, use the total number of stitches on row (e.g. 102 stitches) and divide stitches by number of increases to be done (e.g. 8) = 12.75. In this example increase by making 1 yarn over after approx. every 13th stitch. On next round knit yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. PATTERN: Hat: See diagram A.1. Neck warmer: See diagram A.2. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- HAT - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Worked in the round on circular needle, bottom up. Switch to double pointed needles when needed. HAT: Cast on 102-108 stitches on a short circular needle size 3 mm with Lima. Work in GARTER STITCH – see explanation above, until piece measures 3-4 cm. Switch to a short circular needle size 4 mm, knit 1 round while increasing 8-12 stitches evenly - read INCREASE TIP = 110-120 stitches. Then work A.1 in the round (= 11-12 repetitions of 10 stitches). Increase and decrease as shown in diagram. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When A.1 has been worked, there are 33-36 stitches on needles. Knit 2 rounds where all stitches are knitted together 2 by 2 on both rounds = 9-9 stitches remain. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten together and fasten. The hat measures approx. 24-25 cm vertically. ---------------------------------------------------------- NECK WARMER - SHORT SUMMARY OF PIECE: Worked in the round on circular needle, bottom up. NECK WARMER: Cast on 220-240 stitches on circular needle size 4 mm with Lima. Switch to circular needle size 3 mm and work 2 ridges in GARTER STITCH - see explanation above. Switch back to circular needle size 4 mm. Work A.2 in the round (= 11-12 repetitions of 20 stitches). Decrease as shown in diagram. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When A.2 has been worked, there are 110-120 stitches on row. Switch to circular needle size 3 mm. Work 2 ridges. Loosely cast off. Neck warmer measures approx. 24 cm at the shortest (= inside the arch) and approx. 26 cm on the longest (at the edge of arch). |
